Hi, I was curious to find out what are some of the oldest fish you have kept?

I myself am new to the hobby, and the first fish I had bought that I still have are a group of platties, which I've had since the start of the year in January, so they're about 5 months old.

Would be interesting to see how old all the species of tropical fish can reach. Share your experiences! :D

Cheers

hey, good thread!

I have one 8yr old cosby gourami..

two 9yr old penguin tetra

seven 6 yr old neons

Used to have a catfish who was 10yrs old! but he outgrew the tank :X

the rest of my tropicals are mainly 2 yrs old :D

i had a goldfish for 5 or 6 years when i knew nothing of fish keeping. feel sorry for it looking back :/

Currently my lyre tail molly and brown kuhli loach I've had for around 4 years.

When I was a kid I caught a trout minnow and kept it in a goldfish bowl for almost 2 years. I obviously knew nothing about fish, I'm still shocked it survived in there for that long. Actually it probably would have lived longer but my cat ate it :S

Currently my oldest fish is only about 6 months, but I know a lot more now and they're all super happy so here's to hoping! I read a post on a different forum where someone mentioned they had an Oscar for 17 years... that's amazing. Some dogs don't even live for that long!

I had a Jack Dempsey for 5 years until I had to move out of state so I gave him to a nice, loving family. He was the best fish I ever had, great personality.

then had a filter
moved into a six gallon
