Mama, you could see the eyes in My platy about a week and a half after her first batch, and she had her second 3 days early so I would say yours may be earlier than 5 weeks this time!, and I love that birth announcement how did u do that?

I'm the only one that hasn't been able to keep them alive

Oh I do hope they aren't early as I'm setting up the quarantine tank as a nursery tank and I've only just put the new filter sponge next to the current one to seed it! I reckon it will need a couple of weeks to seed properly. I'll transfer some of the gravel and an ornament so hopefully there'll be some bacteria there too.

Did you mean the announcement at the end of each of my posts?
If so it's the TFF signature feature I used. I reckon/hope I'll be adding the next batch in 2 weeks or more - not less, fingers crossed!

I'm confident you'll have some fry soon!

I've never had guppies so not really my area She did look a bit deep chested, but then so did the other guppy that swam into view at one point. Hopefully someone with guppy experience may be able to answer.
Just read back thro the posts and realised you probably meant Linda's announcement! lol

I brought a guppy today well 4 and 2 males and I swear one had squared off would you watch this video please http://youtu.be/uW-r0HAjwys?sc

They are bautiful. I can't see properly because she's moving too much but quite possible.
On a side note the gulping from the surface isn't very normal. They may have not been properly acclimated as this is a sign of ph schock or ammonia, or oxygen issue. Keep an eye, they maybe ok. There isn't much you can do now becauae they are in the tank already.

Thanks both and I know, personally I think it's because my bf was recording close to the tank and she was expecting food :p as she is frantic up and down and then resting for 5-10 seconds all my perimeters are fine :) as for the shop, they've been reported because the fish were in such a bad way (today the water was sparkling along with healthy looking fish) usually covered in white spot fungus and around 10 dead at the bottom of the tanks !

That's great to hear.
However, the fish behaviour is more reliable than tests and some fish change behaviour due to an upcomlng/ongoing problem when home test can't measure anything useful.
Fish gulping bubbles at the surface for prolonged periods of time is a concern but it could be that they just need time to adjust to the new water parameters but this should stop eventually and is not something they do when waiting to be fed.

They've never done it before :-S they've all stopped now apart from 1 guppy and not anymore I don't but have the fluval U3 filter

Ash may be on to something Gem - what's the temperature in the tank? I've heard that when the water is quite warm (such as when it's deliberately increased for treating ICH etc) it can reduce the amount of dissolved/available oxygen and an air-stone is required to help increase the ripples at the surface and hence increase the gaseous exchanges there. If it is quite warm and you don't need it as part of a treatment regime - it might be worth reducing it 1ºC degree a day to about 23º-24ºC which I believe is 73º-75ºF.
Have to agree with Snazy about it not being feeding behaviour - if mine think they might get fed they swim to the front of the tank not to the top altho if they do get fed then they look like they are gulping at the surface whilst they are eating especially if it's flake which stays near the surface anyway.

I have actually raised it a little from 25 to 26 because my male platy got white spot but its gone now, I'm actually happy you reminded me, ill also add an air pump out of my other tank :) when my 4 way one comes should be tomorrow or next day (eBay) there not doing it at all today, unless I go near the tank or the lid gets opened ! Silly fish

LOL... the birth announcement was easy! When you are typing in the box to reply on a post... look at the bar above the text box and  you should see all sorts of buttons... It's just like using Word or Works or whatever program you use. There is a box for changing the font and the size of the text. there is also a small box that has a picture of a cartoon-ish looking tree. Use that box to add a picture. You have to have the picture already posted on the internet somewhere. Post the pic on Facebook or something like that and right click on the pic and select "copy picture URL" and then post that link in the box that pops up when you hit the tree button on this site to post the pic in the reply you post. It's really easy when you figure it out. OH and by the way... the guppy video... all i can say is OH MY is she big. I only have mollies but I understand mollies and guppies are a lot alike in the way of squaring off.

I think everyone knows what it means when a molly is laying down in the bottom of a tank with a round belly! Her second batch is on its way!
