What Is Squared Off?

I really don't want to move her, I think I'm Gna when she's had them because daddy is good with the babies so she can have her own tank when there born :) I'm 100% sure he won't eat them as he never touched the last batch after Been with them for over 10 hrs but she did the moment she had her chance
So babies and daddy in the 90L I think this time
That seems better doesn't it?

I treated my platy for internal parasites when she was pregnant mom an babies were fine :) black Molly's having ich seems really common

I think she would probably get very lonely on her own. The fry don't need to be looked after by either of their parents. That job is down to us once they are born in captivity. I still have 10+ from the last batch. Mum still chases them but they are too fast now and are thriving in the same tank as the adults, but if you definitely want to separate mum from the fry I'd have dad in with her unless she'd be going to a stocked community tank.

Birth Announcement!!!
Spot has given birth to 7 fry that I can see so far. She is still pretty fat so she may still have more yet. Here is a pic of one of the fry compared to the other fry who is now 2 weeks and 4 days old. They are tiny compared to them!!! Mommy Spot seems to be doing well and hopefully will have more fry in the tank by morning.

Congratulations! Has she had any more yet? Did you manage to get rid of the ich?

i haven't tried counting today but i don't think she has... which is weird... i thought mollies gave birth to all of them not part of them? she is still very fat and yes the ich is slowly going away. I looked at her this morning and i didn't see any spots but i didn't look extremely close. she was content to hide.

If it was her first batch of fry there may not have been as many as there will probably be with subsequent batches. I saw a video on Youtube and this chap had a platy (I know yours are Mollies but they are similar in some respects) and she had 233 fry in one pregnancy!!! Wahhhhh! I really would have to throw the towel in if that happened to mine - no room at the inn! lol

ya but she is still fat!!!!! why is she still fat?? she looks like she hasn't had any fry!! That's her in the front middle there. I fed the fry some newly hatched brine shrimp so they are going wild. I just don't understand why she is fat and looks like she needs to drop still... Can mollies drop over several days?

I don't know about mollies, but my platy never slimmed off after her first birthing, but after the 2nd and 3rd ones she was superslim each time. Maybe it's just her body adjusting to new breeding status, but that's only a guess on my part to be honest.

Congratulations! And yes I had my new tank delivered today and she was due to have her fry tomorrow, sad thing is she had them Thursday night, 3 days before her 4 week due date and they all got eaten as I didn't separate her, daddy and momma are in the new tank now so when she does have them I can move mom out and this Time it's extremely planted.. I'm devastated she had them early I regret selling my nursery now I had to put the danio fry into the other tank with her as I have about 30 left and they are too big for a 90L only around 7 weeks but there scrapping, I've had some taken today though
Lucky you have your babies I'm happy for you :)

& yes I have read that they can birth over 2-3 days but usually within 24 hrs , the way I tell with my platy because she was still squared for a day after was fry eyes, if they've gone they've all been delivered but considering there black I would go on the above view, if she looks oval she may still have babies

well i'm going on a week now and she is still sorta fat... no new fry... weird! maybe she won't loose her "baby fat" as we say in the human world.  NO clue.. but Momma Molly's next due day is on Wednesday 13th so i will start looking for more fry! gotta get that 35 breeder set up!

I might be joining you as my platy is indeed pregnant again! No surprise there! Can see the fry eyes already and it's only 3 weeks since the last lot! Think I'm going to have to set up the 30L as a nursery. Counted 7 of the 3wk-olds at feeding time this morning - a bit tricky as they don't keep still for more than a millisecond at a time! There could still be some very timid ones still in hiding I suppose, but I'd be relieved if there weren't! If my head count is correct there are 14 in my 60L which is about the limit really.
My LFS has agreed to have some but only when they are about 3 months old - but it's better than nothing. Also my son is going to have a couple soon - if he gets ever round to buying the equipment! Hmm it's his birthday soon - there's an idea!!
Anyway good luck with your molly, Linda and Gem you'll have some fry before long especially if you've loads of plants now for them to hide in!

Mama, you could see the eyes in My platy about a week and a half after her first batch, and she had her second 3 days early so I would say yours may be earlier than 5 weeks this time!, and I love that birth announcement how did u do that?

I'm the only one that hasn't been able to keep them alive :-( *cries*
X

Don't worry gem you aren't the only one that has trouble keeping them alive! There are times I know my fish had babies but because I didn't seperate them or have a lot of plants they got eaten.... trust me you will eventually get some to live!
