What Fish Can't You Understand The Appeal Of?

It has to be those strange gold fish with twin tails! Whats that all about?

Guppies!!! boring and drippy looking fish
Parrot cichlids
Bettas
I've never been a fan of Corys either
silver dollars - stupid skitty fish!!

Parrots are the only fish i can think of that i hate. tatooing/painting fish ruin whatever fish got stuck like that so i'll not buy one of them. Danios, tetras, barbs and all the others that do nothing but swim back and forth kinda bore me but most are attractive. i need personality or it doesn't feel like a pet so much as a display.

Goldfish with the big bubbles over there eyes. also big catfish that do nothing but sit on the bottom and do nothing

I think I've seen many threads where people have listed their favorite fish, but very few where people have discussed their "hated" fish.much interested in fish like the Chinese Algae Eater, which pretty much everyone understands is a bad fish choice sold to unknowlegeable newbies, but those fish that are massively popular, but you just look at and scratch your head at the appeal of.

What exactly is wrong with chinese algae eaters? I know they have a bad rap, but I have a 6 inch male that I love. They're incredibly active and don't bother other fish if you give them enough drift wood to hide in. I keep him with a 5 inch false siamese algae eater and they just follow each other around the tank all day. I honestly didn't know that they were aggressive until I found this forum. He hasn't once bothered my barbs, rainbows, mollys, shell dwellers, or ram cichlids. All in all he's been a great bottom feeder.

My algae eaters really good too :)
hes called frank haha

On another note i used to think bettas were a posh kinda goldfish!
know i love em they are FAB :)

Im all around and i like most fish. The fish I really hate are the goldfish group. Any goldfish is very boring to me.

i dont like any live bearers i think mollies are hideous to look at as well as too many babies, same for guppies.

i dont like fish that pet stores sell when they are really small and cool looking but grow up to be ugly and eat everything around them
like oscars and convicts

all vieltail bettas, double tail bettas, any betta with white on them (they look 'dirty' to me for some reason) i prefer plakats, crown tails or just females.

most of the bigger tetras like black skirt, phantoms, i prefer the slimmer bodied smaller ones, except regular neons or cardinals
i dont like the red/blue combo
i have black neons and love them, i like embers, green fires, blue.

anything with long flowy fins or looks like it should be sold in a toy store (like fancy goldfish)

i don't like aggressive fishes ( which there is a lot of species). you know the ones where they make the lives of everyother fish in the tank hell. i admit that they are more interesting than the average guppy, tetra .... but doesn't it make your heartache everytime you see an injured fish?

I hate parrot cichlids, why in the world would someone want such a deformed freak of nature in their tanks is beyond me. Also guppys, I mean I get the interest in the different colors, but they just don't DO anything, except breed. I'm not a fan of fancy goldfish either, the bubble eyes and the round fat bodies just creep me out. In fact I dislike almost any fish that has been "designer-engineered", I prefer the natural beauty of a species.

Corys and other small peaceful fish don't really have any appeal to me. Can't stand the hybrids, bubble eye goldfish, and man made bettas (the ones with the long fins that can't swim).

I really really really can't stand any of the fish they sell at petco, petsmart, or any other major chain store. I hate keeping the same fish everyone else does. It makes me really bored when I know the fish species isn't unique.

Fancy goldfish, the ones that can hardly swim due to the big bellies and big bulgy eyes, I think it is cruel!

I am also starting to dislike my guppies, they have no personality, predictable and are always hassling each other!

I am not too keen on discuss, I can understand they are very colourful but have an odd body shape which I am not keen on and seem a lot of hard work and can't have many other things with them due to the water ph etc.
