What Fish Can't You Understand The Appeal Of?

oscars, i dont think theyre very attractive and they look grumpy all the time
i dont like most big fish just because i'd prefer to have more smaller ones

Plecs. Man they look Ugly to me. They get big and are messy.

Convict cichlids as well. They are boring colours.

I prefer lots of small shoaling fish to large ones. Such as the cardinal tetra. How ever i do like newworld cichlids and am contemplating some angles.

I don't hate any fish as such, i find the smaller fish a bit dull to watch i prefere a bit of personality in fish

Hmmm, There are a lot of fish that dont appeal to me enough that I want to keep them but there are many that I truely dislike completely.

I really dont like dyed or grossly hybrid fish (like "fancy" goldfish).

Fish I wouldnt want to keep (mainly for no specific reason):
Most live bearers (guppies, molleys, etc).
Most very large fish (I'm one of these people that mainly prefer a shoal of 20 fish to 1 big one).
Arowana - I REALLY didnt get these fish until I saw the video in CFC's massive tank building journal. After seeing it swimming around in such a big tank I suddenly saw how cool these fish actually are.

Thats about it really and there are exceptions to the above (I love discuss and Angel fish which I class as large fish).

Neon Tetras and Cardinals, you get them home, they go to the bottom, they disappear, they die.

Either there is something very wrong with your tank or your LFS sucks. I have had neon and cardinal tetras that have lived for years.

I've had like 1 batch of cardinals 2/3 of neons, from diff lfs', they just always die, timid shy etc.

I got black neons, anything but shy, very very very very hardy.

amen and mollies and swordtails, and GOLDFISH unless they are outside in a pond
oh and cant forget parrots b/c they are not natural they are a man made fish not to mention they are ugly
but hey its all on what u like it only matter to the person owning the tank IMO

What I don't get is how people like plecs? I know allot of people might dissagree on this one but i just don't see the bueyt oin them. They just look lik lazy dull brown, coloured fish that just hang from thier mouths and suck algea. An yet people say they have personality. outta this world

Common livebearers, I understand there appeal, small and colourful...so, so boring though.
As for parrot cichlids they're great, prefer them to my oscar.Yes they're man made freaks but oh well, what can you do about it
CAE's are the worst fish I have ever owned...Aggressive, boring, and useless colours.
Hmm there must be more but I can't think of anymore atm.

Mine are really active, nice patterns (and nice colours for my sailfin), I see how IYO they are though.That they eat algae is a plus!

Tetras in general... Why does everybody have them?

But certainly excluding bucktooth tetras! (exodon paradoxus)

Common plecs, so ugly, so dirty, so large
African cichlids - do nothing for me
small dinky fish - much like CFC, they just don't appeal to me
Angels and discus or fish that look similar - HATE how they look
parrot cichlids - ugly ugly ugly ugly
dyed fish - stupid practice
all goldfish - never really did like them, no reason...they just all look ugly IMO and I'd much rather keep a tropical fish

I hate the hideous goldfish with buldgey eyes, fungus looking heads, fat cheeks and/or disatisfacting coloration.

I also hate oscars which are so so so so so stupid looking and discus which never seem to move or do any good. There shape is terrible as well. And not to mention those annoying shoaling fish. How they turn if one single one of them turns.

The point in buying plecos is that they clean the tank. They do eat algae all day but they poop it out all day too. Disgusting.

Also, ghost knifes, common pleco's, dyed fish, glow-light tetra's, pike livebearer's, balloon mollies, and several other fish, that arent comming to mind!

Hard to say. I like all fish, I just love observing their behaviour.
