i have a 6ft fish tank at the min! but it needs moveing cos the cabinet is poo and not that safe anymore!! :( so shud i..

1. build a new unit for my 6ft fish tank and have the hassel of takeing everythink out and putting it all back!

2. i can get a cheap but nice 5ft tank with nice unit! that i can build up then move things over then sell my 6ft fish tank and make money

1a. the 6ft is 510l

2b. the 5ft is 400l

also if i got the 5ft i could fill it up easy with the amount of live rock i have witch means my 6ft wudnt have to look so empty all the time!!!

just to say im kinda on a budget like us all!!

So stick with 6ft and make new unit
or go for the 5ft?

getting the 5ft tank is the easy alternative but will cost you more than just building a new stand for the 6ft.
You will have less water in the 5ft.
You could build a 6ft double tier and have 2 coral tanks or a display tank and a 6ft sump.

I would build a new stand for the 6ft and get a few friends around to help strip the old tank down and set it up on the new stand. You could do it in a day.

I think going with the 5ft tank would be the better option because you would only need to move things over once. If you kept with the 6ft tank then you would have to drain it and store everything somewhere while the stand was built. Then you would need to set it back up. With the 5ft you can simply transfer from one tank to the other. Also making a little profit would probably help a little bit.
