Do you think I have a problem or nah?...

Those orchids are gorgeous :) I have just have common Phalaenopsis. I'm currently down to a couple of flowers on one which was a Mother's Day present - it's been in flower since last March.

I scratch a number on each pot. When they are in flower, I then take a photo and label the photo with the number that's on the pot.

my wife, & her gal pal that has raised them for years, have been doing the ice cube method ( so far I've not cared for orchids yet )... please don't use the ban hammer on me for the ice comment;)

I always thought it a weird way to measure water... I think the ice method, was even listed on the care sheet that came with her orchid???
Let me guess...Just Add Ice? I hate those guys 😭 clever marketing but terrible advice. Phalaenopsis hybrids do not have freezing cold tolerance in their ancestry so all this method is going to do is damage the plant. You'll notice in time the roots will turn black wherever the ice has been sitting, and it will probably, inevitably die.

Tell your ladies to stop doing that and simply let tepid water run through the medium (or you can soak them carefully for a few minutes without getting water in the crown or between the leaves) and then leave them to drain well before putting them back in their decorative pots 🙂 and that's it. Fertilise with specialised orchid feed while they're actively growing

Well that's a very organised way to do it 😂 I've begun to label them now too, I love researching them

Absolutely no self control 🤦‍♀️.... but just look at them 😍 🥹

Here is my first surprise orchid, she's not bloomed in a few years ...

It amazes me how the flowers can change, when I bought her she was a solid white with a few sporadic spots. After a little dormancy (through neglect 😭) and proper care, she's adorned herself in colour!

So, Mr Barnicles has just had to buy me 2 units for all my houseplants as I fear things may be getting out of hand 😬

I'm my collection I have:
8 phalaenopsis orchids
7 cacti of different varieties
2 Jade plants
1 Gollum Jade plant
2 Weeping Fig Ficus
6 Schlumberger
2 Pothos (plus another in the tank)
1 snake plant
1 zebra Haworthia
1 Monstera
1 Syngonium
2 Philodendrons
1 Calathea
2 Dracaena
1 Cyclamen
And last (but I'm afraid to say not least) a Croton....

I can't help it 🫣 I just can't resist! Surely someone else is worse than me?

Edited to add 2 Venus Fly Traps 🤣
Are you kidding me? You should see my grandma's plant room:

That's just her plant ROOM. Her upstairs, bedroom, and the main floor are full of plants. Dozens of plants.

Not to mention her 7 Gardens filling her yard and wrapping her house with hundreds of different kinds of flowers and other plants.

Amazing! How on earth does she find the time to care for them all??

She is 67 and retired so its pretty much her full-time job lol. It keeps in such good shape though. Weeding, planting, watering, mulching, and hauling in fertilizer for all of those plants. My grandpa is a retired carpenter and he has got into welding garden art, wall hangings, and nicknacks. Also making birdhouses and feeders. He has made a bunch of cute coffee tables and stuff for their home as well, its the coolest place.

Not a problem at all. Look up the beardedplantaholic if you want to see someone with a plant ahem “problem”. Can never have too many plants.
