What Do People Think?

Well, these items are being sold in the stores, so there are plenty of people who like such decor!

A few points, since you did ask for opinions:
* if you do like the skull decor, I'd remove some of the imitation log things and maybe replace them with some things related to skulls or pirates, when finances allow some purchases that is.
* the clay saucer on top of the slate with the imitation log on it to me looks more like a trophy like that, I wonder if it would look better more buried into the substrate, and/or hidden behind other decorations?
* the red plant attached to the imitation log kind of disappears beside the bright red plant. I think I would experiment with those a bit more, maybe move that imitation log into the left corner and the red plant into the right corner. Then use the other plants and decor to slope from each toward the center, creating a visual balance, if that makes any sense? lol

Oh by the way, if you have a look again, there actually is two real plants in the tank, one of them is actually that green though, it looks fake

OK, from what i was told, 300ltr should be fine for a pair in this tank due to its width as well as length, but to be on the safe side, i may just stick to one as a centerpiece
I like this idea

Thanks TT, the way i see it, i absolutly love these fish so i wouldnt want to hurt them, plus if i can still have atleast one, its still a goal achieved

I would not have anything more than one Oscar in there. Keep in mind that an Oscar can reach a foot in length and to my knowledge, a 300l is only 4ft long.
You could probably keep an Oscar in a 300l without any serious problems but it would be great if you could upgrade to a 5ft in the future. If you do then you could probably keep a pair as well

Hate to be a dream smasher here. lol sorry

This is a message for everyone. i think you should have not really asked for a opinion on your tank as after everyone comments you will have second thoughts about the tank and wont be happy as you may see it as a great tank while other may not prefer your taste so if it looks nice to you. it is nice.

By the way. i like the tank above as there are plenty of hiding places so in a way your tank is natural as it mimics the hiding places in Nature

Nono, its ok, i asked for opinions as i wasnt 100% sure to begin with, but now that i have the opinions i realize that it is how i want it, i really like the look
I thank everyone for their honest opinions

I actually did go out and get 2 more small fake plants and an anchor, which i think complete the tank (that and i cant fit anymore in if i tried lol
I agree with what Meeresstille said about the skull/pirat theme and that was why i added the anchor aswell
Where i have put the small plant infront of the saucer, i also think that it covers that "Trophy" look, which i didnt notice until mentioned

But as i mentioned, I thank everyone for being honest as it allowed me to have an idea to finish it off :DDD

EDIT:
Just realized you cant actually see the anchor, its on the far left side of the tank, which was cut off in the pic :/
But its there haha
I put it near the skull, but it didnt look right so i moved it

I bought two juvenile Oscars around January/ February I think and they are now in excess of 6 inches., they grow way fast, I had them in a 160 litre for around 2 months and had to put the in a 5x2 sharpish as they started to fight , as soon as they were moved they became buddies again...IMO they/it will dominate the tank so I wouldn't suggest a heavily planted tank , they need space and minimal decor...again just an opinion and I'm often wrong ;)...as for the tank I like sand substrate and a couple of bits of wood but each to there own .

I was going to only have one, and maybe 3-4 small cichlids (not small enough for him to eat) and maybe a pleco, (not sure yet) but i wasnt planning on having real plants in there as they apparently will demolish the plants (so fake it is then) and i was only going to have a thin layer of sand for my substrate with some small rocks and some drift wood, just enough for the others to hide if he becomes the jock of the tank haha

Hey Guys, Check out a the small vid of my tank, I dont think the photos do the tank any justice

It will ...it's also amazing how you can underestimate what they can eat , honestly you need tankmates the same size or they will disappear , I know this from experience ...you have been warned :) ..coolest fish ever though.

Oh they wont be tiny fish, i have been told that they can be smaller, aslong as they cant fit in their mouth haha
They wont be too small, just small enough so it is obvious that he is the centrepiece fish

There is a video on YouTube somwhere of an Oscar and a Betta as tank mates - they weren't tank mates for long, the betta became intimately acquainted with Oscar's stomach. My point is that even something as big as a betta will fit into an Oscar's mouth.

I'm not entirely sure what you changed ( didn't get much sleep ) but it looks better! :dunno:

As per my OP i was changing the substrate to sand
My mum bought a new tank and was given way to many fake plants, so i put some in my tank when i changed the substrate
This was the final result
