I just bought a 4ft tank on a whim, 45us gallon/170 litre.

Its 4ft x1ft x 1.5ft and i've just realised i need a heating, lighting, filtration and a lid.

what size of heater/combination of heaters will i need for this tank?

how much filtration per hour will i need?

I can get a condensation tray from a lfs and i thought that would be okay but i totally forgot about lighting. whats the cheapest solution for a good lighting system?

I'm doing this all on the cheap and ideally want the whole setup for under £75 - i'll be looking on ebay and in classifieds for most of the stuff. the tank cost £40 so that leaves £35 for the heating, lighting and filtration?

Id say £100 budget was more a "cheap" setup ... Have you also allowed for chemicals, substrate, plants (if needed) stand etc.. ?
£35 just aint gonna cut it, is it ?

well i was wanting to get a heater, lighting and a filter for £35 as a target. The rest of the stuff i either have, or will need to wait to find, like a good looking piece of bogwood.

I just was wondering what spec of hardware i would need for my tank.

Think you will struggle to get even a filter for that money... Wouldnt use a single internal, pref an external, but you may get away with under gravel if you are using gravel !

im looking into externals and i think roosters right on the £35 just for the filter,
but you could get heater for cheap and prob the lighting too if you looked
