I'm from Rotherham so my question is this. If anyone comes from my neck of the woods were do you buy from and who is the best?

Although I'm not from Rotherham I would say do your research on your local fish stores (lfs) and be carful if u buy a fish from a big brand store like wal mart.

You could try heanans tropicals oh and its a webste so google it, also i can do 10% discounts for tff members ran by me lol

Ive heard quite a few good things about a couple of LFS in Sheffield. But my number 1 which isnt too far away from you is Ferrybridge Aquatics in Knottingly :)

I'm in York, so kinda up near you.

I get my fish locally, from P@H (where I work) and other lfs, such as Maidenhead Aquatics. My housemate (who comes from Rotherham) says there is a Pets At Home there. Maidenhead Aquatics is pretty good. Google them - there might be one closer to you. They are usually attatched to Wyevale garden centres.

I also get quite a few fish online - usually betta breeders I know or have found on Ebay.

Best one in Sheffield is easily Fish INC, and coincidentally it's in Handsworth, so not that far from Rotherham.
There is only one other fish store in Sheffield that I would actually recommend and that's Aqua Hobby, but they have a smaller selection so for someone from Rotherham Fish INC is the place to go.

Check out their website Fish INC for details of stock lists and prices etc

I must admit been tempted to go look at fish inc a while but if I go to an "other" fish shop an hour way, I'm worried I will end up single

Lol Wills if you do get the chance then it's definitely worth the trip. I've not even been around the whole shop yet. I only just passed my driving test the week before going to Uni. So now I'm not with my tank and don't have a car. :(
So no trips to fish inc. :(

Hi all. Thanks for the tips its really not how it used to be around me anymore. There were loads of tropical fish shops around anyone remember international aquatics in Sheffield? I've bought some great stuff from there.

As for fish inc i've been and didn't think much to there malawi stock as i was looking to start up again. But maybe i went on a bad month or whatever. Didn't pay much attension to the community fish so may go check em out again.

Chances are you went just before a delivery. But even if you didn't, they can order in basically anything you want.
And you should check online to see what they're currently stocking... the online stocklist means that although they may not have it in stock, then can order it in.

And they will have alot of the list in stock.
How long ago did you visit? Did you go before or after they refurbished?

It was last summer 08 well if you could call it a summer lol. As i said the Malawis were not of a good standard over all from what i was used to getting. I think i was spoilt so find it hard to except less. The community fish i really didn't take note of as that wasn't what was after. But i'll give them another try.

Ah. Well then I don't think you've been since the refurb... Definitely worth a visit. I haven't counted them myself but according to what I've read I think they now have 250 malawi tanks...
