theres this white almost feathery oraganism inbedded in the skeleton of my green torch coral, and i just recently found it
with my sucky camera and my torch covering it 90% of the time i couldnt get a good photo or video of it but i drew a picture =D
all it does is open and close in the movement like if u were to raise ur hand and open and close it into a fist.

heres the picture

mate,

Is it like a small fan that grasps as though trying to catch something passing by?
looks like a small fan!
If it's grey in colour and on your live rock chances are that is where it has materialised from.
I don't know what they are called but it's the sort of thing you find on the beach in rock pools, you must have seen
them they have a small slit about the size of 3mm and shut if you touch them.
My mate has them growing in his tank on an OYSTER of all things that he found attached to a marker bouy!!!
Don't think they are dangerous but sure are cool to watch.
Sorry this doesn't help with identification but i wouldn't worry.

Im almost sure its actually a type of barnacle that lives inside the coral.

Doesnt do any harm methinks, but they dont seem to live very long unless the tank is mature.

HTH,

they are all over my frogspawn skeleton, they just sit there. thats alot of flow you have over your torch, is it close to a powerhead?

Its a barnacle :good: totally harmless and interesting to watch. We have one on our torch.

Jon

accually ive been wondering why it looks like theres so much, its right in the middle of the tank and we only have a very small power head near it, but its not even close or in direct aim of any powers heads. sometimes it will blow ALOT some times it will sway and sometimes it wont even move.... its weird. but its benn doing very good so far, almost doubled in size
