ok if you really want to do somthing usefull,

Then design a piece of software that allows you to design the tank from scratch, you could have a whole host of stats involved, I.E if you select a certain fileter it tells you the tanks turnover etc etc and this could be done for any piece of tank equipment.

Then you can have a stocking list as you select each species it then eliminates any un-suitable tank mates.

no one has managed to put together a complete tool, also the tank set-ups could be shared online to then allow noobs to pick a tank and know exactly what filter,heater,fish etc etc to buy.

Ha, This would be an amazing app to build trouble is the visuals would be quite difficult, not only that theres so many pumps and tanks, It would take me years to complete :p

I know this is a older post, but I've built an aquarium management app that does at least some of this in case anyone is still interested;

http://aquarium-manager.herokuapp.com

It currently has;
* expense management
* saves tank readings to help manage trends over time
* the ability to list your fish against each of your tanks

Very shortly you'll be able to publish your tanks for other people to see. The idea being that you can determine what fish other peoples' (eg) 70 gallon aquariums have in them, and then determine what is working well over time. Doing so is an alternative than trawling through forums IMHO...

Because it is web based, you can easily check out stats about your aquarium when you're out and about (eg your LFS or fish club), which is convenient if you're seeking advice or just trying to keep track of everything.

I'd love you to try it out and suggest improvements where you see fit - hope you like :)

Cheers

How about a TFF app for Iphone, Android etc? Im sure you would have alot of DL's

Aquarium manager already works on iPhone, Android etc - I've put a lot of effort on the layout, to ensuring the application displays well on mobile devices such as iPhones, androids, iPads etc (and of course mac/PC web browsers), particularly when it comes to entering and reading test results.

In terms of writing a TFF app - this is a huge task. Primarily because I don't write the back-end software that powers this forum. It really requires the forum software creator to do this to ensure changes to the database can be reflected in the mobile app, and of course to pass through the authentication. Agree though, it would get a bunch of DLs!
