I just came across this site and it's a very well written site hosted by the Koi Club of San Diego and has information all about Water Chemistry for ponds... but this is also applicable to tanks. Everyone should bookmark this in their favorites under Water Chemistry.

The only thing I've come across that I think would should be added is a recommendation for a KH test kit. They don't have it listed and it's pretty important... especially for tank kept goldfish where low KH levels can lead to pH crashes and disaster. I'm still reading over the vast amounts of well written information but so far, I am impressed with the layout and simplicity of the information.

If no one will post. Thanks for the link.

KH is the same as Alkalinity, the measuring of calcium carbonate present in the water.

Furthermore, recent tests indicate that it is Nitrospira spp and not Nitrobacter spp that handle the nitrites. Tests on mature aquaria found almost none of the latter and plenty of the former.

Other than that it looks pretty good.
