have you made one yet? what I did with mine (although mine are just domes, I was too scared to cut out the "doors") was boil them in a pan of water for 15 minutes. Some tannins came out but nothing I'd have worried about in the tank, and it made sure they were definitely clean.

I tried making one but split the thing some need to grab another one. Did u get the hair stuff of it or leave it??

Hi I cant have a look for a week as im away on my jollys, if you dont have any luck obtaining any before i get home ill have a look for you - im sure ive got a couple of old coconut shells in my fish box in the shed.

I used to use them for my kribs, but im stocked with different fish now, they are just sat in my odds and sods box doing nothing, would rather someone else got some use from them xx

Cheers nudzy. I'm a bit useless with the DIY so me cutting a anything is not good. :)

I took the husk off (the hairy bit). I found it was softened with the boiling, so I got an old serrated knife and just scraped it off. One member on here (I remember reading) gave the shells to his/her dogs and they loved dehusking them :) I wish I could cut stuff too. I might wait until september and take some shells to the technology department here at the school I work and ask the technician there to cut and shape them for me :)

Tidy Saves wasting £10. Get a good job done aswell then.

I have some builders here but i feel cheeky asking them to cut some.
