Hello all :good:

Whenever I go to walmart it always makes me angry looking at the fish section. The tanks are always filthy and unclean. The dead fish hardly are taken out!

What really annoyed me is one of the staff who works on the fish section was smacking the tank with her palm to get the fishes attention. I felt like slapping her face

Is everyones Walmart the same? I'm thinking of doing some sort of petition to get them to stop selling fishes

I'll have to say, "Thank God. all my walmart has are some tanks without any live selection of fish."

Yah it seems like every walmart has a random person working the fish area who has no idea on what to do. One day I felt like saving a baby oscar from there and I had to show her how to fill the bag up with water and had to get the oscar out with a net :/ ...it was pretty pathetic

They are pathetic. However, not all are that bad; I found one that was actually quite good. But alas, a diamond in the ruff. My wal-mart hardly even has any fake plants in the tank for cover.

One day I saw a terrestrial fern in a few of the tanks.
I said "Is that an aquatic fern?"
The employee said "Oh, you don't have to get water plants. Just put houseplants in the tank."
I said, "Well, if you do that they'll die."
The employee turned around and walked away very quickly. :grr: Pathetic.

I'd say; you know it's bad, everyone knows it's bad, so why make a thread to do abit more moaning :S

anyone else wanna rant?
Nope. The fish I get from there live for ages, id say about 7 years so far..

Well really, it's not the fish that are bad, it's the people taking care of them.

I'd say; you know it's bad, everyone knows iit's bad, so why make a thread to do abit more moaning :S

the more voices that are heard, maybe something can be done about it.

you're probably the sort of person that likes how they're treated :(

I actually wanted to buy some fish from there last time I was there... after walking down 10 aisles both ways, and finding no employees, I decided just to leave.

In my opinion, Wal-mart should not sell fish or any animals for that matter. They are not intersted in whats good for the animal, they are interested in making a quick profit fast and easy. Feel free to disagree if you do.

I do agree with you but I dont think it will have to come to that. Maybe a petition to put the fish staff section through some kind of training would work better.
