Wally's 60l Journal

Damn algae has hit, its long strands which are really thin. I've tried to remove as much as I can. I think it might be as I've taken the cabomba out. I'll post a picture later, but I think I need to get more plants in there now, although I'm left with most of the substrate planted I need some more fast growers. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this algae? Is it hair/thread algae?

Is it on the HM? It's so prone to it you know. Real pain in the rear. The HM in my 8g dutch had a little of it that I just manually removed, but I've seen it completely choked with the stuff in other systems. It sounds like thread algae to me, but without a picture, I hate IDing it. Remember, the tank is still new, you knew this was going to come sooner or later. I'd put back the stemplants if I were you.

It was on the HM, as well as other plants. It was really only the odd strand, after I removed it as much as possible it seems to be fine, not many problems. I have reorganised the fish too and have now 3 extra amano shrimp which have helped a great deal suprisingly along with the other three. I've put some limnophila sessiliflora in the back left corner now which is said to grow fast. The HM is doing really well now, the roots are deep so I suppose I can see the difference at the top now!
