hi all, im making a little project, a 13" piece of thin plastic tube sealed at one end and a piece of air line pipe going in the other end attatched to a air pump, then i will drill a line of small holes along it, hopefully creating a line of bubbles and then i will hide it behind a wall of rocks in my tank, one think i need to ask is: at the end im sealing i want to use a glue type sealent arond the bung im using, is there any no no's to what stuff ic an and cant use in my tank, so i dont affect the fish?
tha :dunno: nks

you need to use aquarium sealer, any lfs should carry it in stock. :D

I agree! I have used aquarium sealant for much more than sealing. I have hear of people using GE Silicone II, but I haven't found it (also didn't look very hard, lol). If it says "not for use in aquarium" or "do not submerge" then it won't work. I have just played it safe and used the stuff at the lfs. I'm sure GE would be cheaper though...

Problem with tubing it soon get clogged up, you might not what to seal it
so you can clean it now and then.

no ur not taking the pis* at all kent bloke, i hav seen the long air stones in the shops, but i thought, hey what the heck, make something! not only that, the air stones tend to give a fizzing kinda effect, as im hoping my idea will be more kinda bubbles if u get what i mean! It probaly wont work anyway lol....

also i wont seal it both ends as the end with the air line going in is a cone shaped bung thingy so i can just pull it out and clean it with a thin pipe brush...

thanks again

dan. :D

So your making a bong or a pipe?? ;)
bongs make big bubbles, but the air line does'nt go in the cone.
guess wha does :S

i made a big circle of a "airstone" when i cleaned out my pond and needed something of good size to aerate the holding tank.

I got a large peice of tube joined it with a connector to make ahte ring then got a airline joiner bit and cut a hole in the tube for this to fit tightly in (no glue).

I did 1 of the inlets at either side then pierced a load of holes around. First I did thewm with a pin but this wasn't big enough so heated a needle and made some slightly bigger holes.

I only used it for 2 days so afraid I can't tell you the long term effects.

Try and make the tube weighted in some way, I held my ring down with some large stones.

Why not use T connectors as this will do the same effect.
