ok so i have a 29 gl with like 4 platy three guppy and 7 neon tetra right now.. ok well everthing is fine with the water and everything. i added a couple of new plant in the tank and now wierd things are happening. ok out of no where i have snails in my tank i asked my mom, my sister everyone if they put them in there they all said no. i know its possible that they could have been on the plants when i got them but, at first like 3 weeks after i put the plants in there was a snail. i dont mind him being there but not all of a sudden there is more i counted six this morning. and not only that but not i think there are eggs in my tank im not sure if it is my neons or well im not sure how snails go about that kinda think but what should i do about it???? i dont want that many snails in my tank so im woundering how do they multiply????????? and do you think my tetras could have laid eggs on one of my plants????

Best to load a pic up of the eggs.
Best to sterlise plants before you add them to a tank.
You can use bleach but you do have to know the dosage and what you are doing.

well i had the plants in their own tank for a while and well when i thought all the germs and stuff had gotten off of them i moved them into my other tank where they are now. i will get pic asap ill probably do that now. so bare with me untill i get the pics of the eggs up. but what about the snails should i expect to find more soon???

thanks the pics will have to be later my camera died and i cant find the charger uggg... srry

snails often come from plants you buy at a lfs, snails lay eggs in a clutch with kinda a jelly coating over them. if they are on your plants when you add them, then you will have snails. theres almost no way to get rid of them once you have them.

yea they probally came in the plants,, petsmart sell plants that are gaurented snail free, so theyare good to but,, as for the snail now,, i had 3 then a month later i had about 20 that i could seee, they lay eggs on a clear snot like jelly , and they can screw up a filter if they get sucked in, to get rid of mine i put the fish in cups and took all the water out of the tank then i took all the plants out and washed them in hot really hot water then did the same for the gravel, if u see any eggs blobbs wipe them away with a papertowl and throw it out,, then i wash the tank in hot water,, got rid of all the adults ,, only had a stray baby or two show up but just took a papertowl and wiped them out and got ride of them

I have great advice, buy some loaches, Loaches will eat every snail in the tank
