I've had a Juwel 125 for 8 years now and I'm going to upgrade this summer. I was planning to get a Trigon so as to liberate some space in the lounge but now I'm starting to have doubts.
I know that, despite it's volume, the Trigon has a relatively small footprint and it's generally hard to scape but I also read somewhere that the arc of the glass on the front can tend distress the fish.
Whether this is the case or not, please feel free to comment.
As a compromise, I have also considered a Juwel Vision which still has some curvature but is generally, a more conventional tank. This would go where my existing Rio is, and not in the corner of the room.

Either tank would look very nice but I would be interested to get the considered opinions of those who actually own these tanks.

Thank you,
- dins.

I have a trigon 350 and i would prefer a vision 450 if i had the choice mostly because of what you said although the curvature of the glass doesn't bother my fish in the slightest, if you are looking at the 190 it is not really a upgrade to what you have now

I have the trigon 350. I hate it. Would much prefer a normal tank. Need a larger footprint.

my old man has a trigon 350, looks great but the fish do look stramge sometimes depending on how the light hiuts the front,
i have a delta 300 corner tank, which has a 3 panel front so the main front section is flat, and i and a few others prefer it, plus the bow fronts scratch very easily as the glass is weak after the stretchhin neccessary to bow it.

this is currently up for sale, in black, complete with twin lighting and filter., looking for £200 ono if your interested?

cheers

If you want a smaller footprint but not dissorted glass (I had the same problem before I moved)
there are some tank which offer cut and not bent glass.

Like these ones: (Taken from Google Images)

*Because of the glass is cut and not bent, the fish wont be distorted.

I bought one of these months ago, but I now have doubts if it's ever going to arrive :(

Juwel used to make tanks in that exact shape (Delta) They're discontinued though, personally I'd go for a Rio, I'm not a fan of curved glass.

Thanks Mike. It's certainly something to consider but we're getting the house rewired next month so I'm going to leave it off till then. I seem to be swaying towards keeping a rectangular setup but I suppose the wife will "influence" my decision.

It seams the Trigon certainly does tend to polarize opinion. I think the curved glass looks aesthetically pleasing but I understand it isn't to everyone's taste (especially the fish). I'm not after a smaller footprint, I just think putting a tank in the corner would make the room look bigger. Then again, I might have a more sinister motive...

Consider this.

The Trigon 350 is 73 + 65 cm high (138cm). It's also 87cm deep!

this makes it fairly difficult to get to your filter :hyper:

I went with the vision 450. It's amazing in my opinion.
Yes, if you look at the front glass from an angle you will get some distortion and reflections.

But from 1m+ distance, it looks absolutely stunning!

Yeah, I've heard this about these tanks. Internal would go the journey straight away I think.
I've reached my decision anyway. I'm going to get a Trigon 190 and upgrade my community tank when I win the lottery. You can probably guess which tank I have in mind for that.

personally i like long tanks, corner ones just dont do it for me

Oh, I agree but a corner is all I've got to work with. We've had a second tank before, one being in the kitchen and then migrating to the hallway. It got neglected to be honest. Not in terms of upkeep, it just wasn't appreciated where it was situated. Lesson learnt.
I gave the tank to a friend who has it in his lounge.

In addition to my Rio, a second tank would give me something else to distract me when Glee or Hollyoaks come on the telly.

I have the vision 260 and dont think I could go back to having a normally rectangular tank. I think the curved glass adds to the experience of looking at the fish.

The 260 is deep to but my mate has a trigon 350 and he really struggles with the depth of it. I do like the 350 and would be tempted with one of them though.

Which ever tank you get your going to be getting a good one!!

Up early on the Sabbath aren't we? Crivens.
Thank you for your opinions.
