Trigon Island 190

its really easy to do, i found it alot easier and less meesy than moss, because of the shape of riccia. I didn't want a large coverage, just small patches so...

found some old bit of slate, sanded the corners to make em more round as i have some corys

popped a clump of Riccia on the slate, just enough to cover the slate. Then tied it on with fishing line.

soaked for 10 mins, just giving it the occasional shake to remove loose riccia. The burried the slate, only slightly in the substrate. You can still see the edges of the slate, but its growing out now and starting to cover the slate.

and llj, thanks for the comment, Rainbows are great fish! very interesting to watch and have the most character of any small fish i have kept. The males are always flairing at the females and the colours are great.

and the missus has finally caved and let me go pressurised!!

wooohooo!

cheers Biulu.

i have added more riccia, a bigger pathway. I'm hoping to get more so i can spread the carpet all the way to the front.

Its only been 5 days of pressurised c02 and dosing my own NKP, but the plants look twice as healthy. Would recommend the Easylife range to anyone.

Wow, they do look healhy, looks like you've been dosing them with some sort of radioactive substance they're that green!

Where'd you get your co2, diffuser and all that business from?

thanks guys.

The c02 is a JBL 602 set, i was set to make up a FE, but the wife didn't want it being usafe due to the little one, which is fair enough. So, she lean't me the money for a decent one. It cost just shy of £200 in the end after haggling with MA. I'm using my old 'red sea' diffuser though, it has an impellor and smashes up the bubbles as they come out. It was really easy to set up and regulate. Also the Green machine sent me another set of Easylife today by accident. I did ring em though as i didn't want to be charged twice.

Cheers Ian, I was just curious as its something I may implement in the future as something to do when I can't add any more fish ;)

I was at TGM today... expensive stuff though!

what the c02 or the ferts?

the ferts are quite reasonable, they work out cheaper than TPN and you have the option of upping or downing the doses. Did you buy any?

I meant the co2...

I had a think about the ferts and I just ended up getting a big bottle of TPN+, mostly just because its easier to dose!

Looks great :good: and I agree on the Dwarf Rainbows, I have 12 myself and they are fantastic. I enjoy them much more than any tetras I've kept before.

things are growing well since starting with pressurised and dosing po4 and n03 along with profito and Fe. I have added more Riccia, the other stuff was dwarf riccia, so i have moved that to the front. I added the other Riccia 2 days ago, so it hasn't taken off yet. The Tiger lotus has really taken off, the leaves are floating now. I have also added different rock as the other was a bit mix and match. I was worried about the Windlov as with the light and it being quite high on the wood, but it looks really good and is pearling everyday. Also added a aponogeton madagascariensis, which is at the back, trying to cover the filter box. BTW its more like a valley, not an island.
