Tom's Bucket O' Mud

Thanks Cazzie. I'm afraid I'm rather put off the photo of the month comps by the ridiculous 'dated post-it note' rule, otherwise it'd be worth it for the craic.

Well, I don't know what's got into the Paros today, they're normally very shy, but have been marauding around all over the place...

That last one was shot with the flash behind, instead of in front, so there's no reflection from the blue photosites, but it really shows off the iridescence on their bodies.

Thanks. I don't see any difficulty really in getting a verification pic, just the whole thing seems a bit unnescessary and I'm easily disgruntled :p

Lol, I guess at some point there must've been someone try to sneak a picture in of a fish that wasn't theirs, and that's why it exists.

I can't get any pictures with the camera I have, so mostly I just enjoy looking at other people's fabulous pictures that I've not a hope in hell of getting even close to in quality! :p

you've got a point, but sadly there are some people out there that will try and pass off fish as their own just so they can have a small colourful graphic next to their username on an internet forum.

I got myself a new toy last weekend (Panasonic GH2), and decided to point it at the tank whilst figuring out what all the buttons did. As a crash course in videography it actually made a very useful subject.

The footage is pretty rough because it's so dimly lit that i had to shoot at about 10fps and interpolate the extra frames, but I know some people have been asking for a video of the tank and inhabitants, so here you go!

Welcome to the premiere of my debut film, "Parosphromenus: A love story (in 2 parts)"

Anyone know if its possible to embed vimeo files on here?

That Matt is one of the best things i have ever seen (next to ET). It has everything, a laugh, seriousness and i even shed a tear! lol

seriously that really is awesome.

Hehehe, quite enjoyed throwing it together really. Might invest in some extra lighting to get some better quality footage.

As winter draws ever nearer (in Scotland anyway!), I thought I should take a few shot sof the rather nice light that diffuses into the tank in the mornings...

Wow....you've created something truly inspirational here. And it basically looks after itself, which is even better! :D

Definitely want to try this one day when I have the space to do it and I'm fed up with all the dosing and water changing and high-tech palaver... :D

I've said it before on this journal but I'll say it again, Awesome!!! this tank is great and truly natural looking, like you cut a chunk from a tropical river and put it in the tank. :)

Danger!

The triffid is now sending out flower stalks, it's going to take over the room...

Anyone want to place a bet on how long it gets? Currently about 4 feet -

well from the look of those buds and the current length I'd say another couple of feet  they always surprise me at how long the flower stems are... I've a cactus on my kitchen window ledge that is only about 7 inches tall but sends out flower stems 18 inches long :fun:

^cactus is compensating!

This is one of the most beautiful tanks I've ever seen, hands down. What you've done here is fantastic. I've been thinking about making a semi-emersed habitat for a while, and thought it would be loads of work with humidification etc, but this is stunning. I love the idea of a whole self-contained ecosystem in a tank - you are their GOD! Did you introduce any of the nematodes etc. to the tank, or are they from the compost?
