Tom's Bucket O' Mud

Cheers. They all seem healthy, active and breeding so I'm not particularly concerned, but would like to know what it is!

I don't think white spot affects shrimp does it??...i'm sure it doesn't.

Erm, not sure, you can't really see it with the naked eye - I'd have to take some more shots.

'Fishy' white spot definitely doesnt affect shrimp, but there is a crustacean virus that I know affects some food shrimp that causes white spots. It's probably nothing, will take some more shots in a bit.

I don't think it's anything to worry about mate, after using the macro on some ofcmy past shrimp I saw the same thing, I think it's just a pigment thing to do with colouration. None of mine ever died from it, just from old age lol.

This is so beautiful Tom. I'm in awe.

I would really like to know what type of lens' you are using. I think I need to start pulling out my whole kit to get better pictures - I never use my tripod which is a silly move on my part. And is your flash camera mounted?

Thanks Jen. Full tank shots are taken with a mixture of lenses... mainly Sigma 10-20mm and Nikon 50mm, closeups with Sigma 150mm macro with flash above the tank on extension cord.

Shooting down with the flash... I would never have thought of that! Brilliant. I'm looking into buying a flash, and that is a very valuable piece of information. Thanks. I have comparable lenses, so I guess I just need to practice :)

Well, still failing to get any usable shots of the male gouramis, but here are a couple of one of the females in camouflage mode...

And the solitary male B. maculata, who has matured into some really stunning colours...

Great pictures. You should think about entering the gourami into FOTM. Top picture, it's beautiful.

Finally got a decent shot of one of the male Paros. Now just to get him flaring!

fantastic pic Tom, it's a real shame you're selling the cam!

are you getting a new one?

Aye, selling a few things to put towards a D7000. Not quite as 'pro' in terms of body but better at high ISO and has video.

i doubt Tom would enter that, but i wish he would...
