Few more photos of the Emerald crab.
A photo of the few free polyps I found on the
Galaxea coral. I believe it is some type of
Clavularia, if anyone knows please do tell. They are at the bottom right of the picture.
After the rearrangement last night following the crab removal, it appears I did not put things back quite as they were, I caught this happening earlier.
A little stung.
As I said a couple of days ago, I had a look at the TMC stock list for Flasher and Fairy Wrasses, I went through some pictures in a book at the LFS and finally we narrowed the choice down to two.
The
Paracheilinus filamentosus (Filamented Flasher) or
Cirrhilabus rubrisquamis (Red Velvet Fairy) whilst they were on order I did a little reading and discovered the C.rubrisquamis grew a little larger, this was a disadvantage as I am pushing the size slightly anyway.
These are links to the two fish as adults.

I also discovered that it did not matter how many pictures you looked at they all looked a different colour.
I arrived at the LFS this afternoon very excited and boy what a delivery she had this week, there were some amazing fish. She showed me which two tanks the wrasses were in and I examined the two. The fairy (
C.rubrisquamis) was stunning, it was also quite large already, I had already read that they do not show up in the trade very often and just that attracted me to him. I examined the Flasher (
P.filamentosus), I could see that there was some stunning blue finnage that went to purple and red. It was a very hard decision, I wanted the Flasher to flash so that I could see a little more of the finnage so the lady fed hime for me. He had a voracious appetite and also flashed at the anthias in the tank with him. He is only a small medium sized fish so did not yet have adult colouring but I could see he was stunning.
I stood back for 5 minutes and went to have a look at the corals whilst making my decision (I did refrain from a coral purchase today, oh the willpower that took).
I had to be sensible, I did not know exactly how long it would take me to get the larger tank, plus that blue is amazing.
I went for the Flasher - Paracheilinus filamentosus - Filamented Flasher Wrasse I am determined though, as soon as I have that bigger tank, I will be getting one of the others, as long as it is as good a specimen as that one was.
Here is
My boy - Mereneptah
The cleaner has spied a new fish and is moving in for the big clean
The fish does not want cleaning, but wants to get away
He is not yet showing the colours he was in the shop, also he is a little quick, the photos really do not show the colours I am seeing.
I am sure he will have stunning colouring in the coming months.
I hope you like him.
