cars parked on the side of the street, not in the driveway have always been my pet peeve. on my mom's street, everyone has huge driveways but everyone has so many suvs (each family has to have at least four?) that they just park them in the street. and if there's a curve in the road, there will certainly be 5 cars parked along it so you can't see when turning the curve.
well, one of the people (whose driveway was EMPTY at the time) got a surprise when we had a storm on friday.
the pics were taken with my phone. i will have to go out and buy some batteries from my digital so i can get some better pics. it's really an awesome site.
the tree completely blocked the road when it fell. i wish i had some batteries for my cam before they cut it. (it was too dark to get any pics with my phone)

They learned their lesson right? I hate when people do that, and when people drive slow, don't even get me started on my road rage.

Hahaha! I park my '91 F-150 on the street all the time, usually under a big tree. My kids' cars, along with my wife's, go in the driveway. Biggest fear is some drunken bozo slamming into the nicer cars. If they hit my truck they will bounce off, I'll laugh about it like I do when people almost hit it driving.

My wife dreams about a big tree hitting the ratty vehicles I drive. I can't see taking a loan on something that depreciates, gets corroded with road salt half the year, and is a target for idiots that drive without a license or insurance. Trees are the least of my worries around here.

lol I am the same I park my 02 ranger out on the street all the time. the only time I don't is when the winter parking ban is in place then its out on the yard, we too have big trees all around but my worry ins't the drunk drivers, all the people around me are OLD!!!!! its when I have the days off and am home all day that I worry the most about the old people that can't drive to save their lives hitting it. though being a truck driver you want to tell stories of the road I have more than my fair share in fact I had to go home the other day because 2 people in one 4 mile streach of road decided to leave their lane and almost hit me. people complain about truck drivers going so slow but it is always them who die when they hit the truck.

Yay for SUV people who park in the street! :kana: My family has 3 SUV's and we love them.... little tangent there. I think it's rude to laugh at someone who's $15,000+ piece of property just got crushed. (Of course, if this was a thread about how some stupid little hybrid got flattened by an SUV, everyone would be freaking out. Ah, the hypocrisy, isn't it wonderful?)

Plus, it's funnier to see the results of accidents between SUV's and little cars... JK, of course. :p

I just think it's awesome what the sky can do. I love storms. But when death starts raining from the sky in the form of a tornado and such..yipes!

Will the insurance company pay out or is it an "Act of God"? That's one of their getouts over here! :) Don't know if it would apply to that situation.

got some batteries for the digital but the tree had already been removed
oh well-still cool

the tree again

pfft, whatever. i share a hometown with jacblades and i know what the suburbs are like around there (as a matter of fact, i think i recognize the area pictured). most of them feature narrow streets and HUGE driveways (typically with turnarounds). not only are big SUVs hard to see around, they also can't be seen over or through. and as you can see in the final picture, people there don't think twice about parking large vehicles on both sides of the road.

if you insist on parking in the street while your driveway sits empty, you deserve whatever you get. driveways and garages are for parking, not basketball courts and storage. i can't scold you if you don't have room for the cars you need to own, but if you're just wasting space like 3/4 the people in Bluff Park or Russet Woods--you deserve whatever you get.

oh and PS: this?

completely uncalled for and offensive. (saying "just kidding" doesn't make something appropriate.)
