Thinking Of Going From Fresh To Marine

Maybe i should just leave him be then? a freshwater dip not a good idea?

Its either from fighting or something came in from my LR...in any case i rang up watermarque and they said theres nothing they can do or suggest and i said how about a refund then and i'll buy some live rock..the manager laughed and said how about you shop elsewhere.

No big loss.

Nice people! Now you know where they got their poor reputation from! This is one worth avoiding by the sound of it... they certainly don't sound like they care for the fish that they sell.

Yeh its sad that most shops are like this..well around here anyway.

You would of thought after them costing me money by misinforming me in the first place they would have the decency to give me a refund on the clowns or exchange for rock....obviously not!

Do you think the Clown might need a Freshwater dip? or shall i just leave him be?..he looks a little clamped up whereas the other clown looks happy and acting normal.

just leave it as long as it's eating should be fine. Or use some melafix ime perfectly reef safe I used it on my clowns when they had White marks on face.

Whats that then mate? how much is it and where can i get it? Watermarque said they don't sell marine medication...and i won't be going back in there anyway!

I must admit I didn't know Melafix was reef safe, so it's a new one on me :good:

It's more often sold as a tropical freshwater fish for treatment against fungal growth, tail rot, cloudy eye etc. it is also used in lighter doses as a general pick-me-up sometimes.

So TAC or watermarque should sell it as a tropical treatment!

my Aiptasia anemone seems to be getting more confident and coming out of its cave a fair bit and my clowns seem to be obsessed by it,rubbing on it and stuff...are they trying to host it?

If so that could explain the white mark on my clowns face :S

can Aiptasia sting clowns?

They can't sting clowns as far as I'm aware and clowns don't normally host Aips as they are too small. However I'm not sure if the Aip could cause further damage to the injury that the clown has. If it were me, I'd probably get rid of the Aip just to be sure. I do still have a couple in my tank, just not got around to squirting them yet.

Yeh i'm gonna get some peps to munch it..1 or 2

Tanks coming along fine still :D

To be honest when i had my first freshwater tank 10 years ago i had alot more trouble than this! especially with ammonia, nitrate etc (i kept trops + brackish for my entire life but my dad always did all the looking after them)

Yes marine keeping is a lot easier as far as basics are concerned than I ever thought. It's something I meant to do for some time but always put myself off due to my perceived complexity.

However to be a true purist in marine water chemistry you do have to put a bit more effort in, and I'm just getting down to it now. Because of my lazy husbandry over the last couple of months I intend getting the tank back up to scratch again and perk up my 'not very happy' yellow leather.

Although sometimes all these tests etc must seem like overkill to some people (especially newbies) most of them are there for a reason but maybe one or two are there just to line the pockets of the manufacturers. Not that I'm a cynic or anything

Kill em now... I too had one and figued, "eh, no big deal I'll just get it later". Now I'm tearing my hair out trying to kill these little punks. I've resorted to torching them to death with a mini butane torch
