and the males was red and blue.

Although i'm doubting myself now!

Can't find the blooming thing now but the one you linked is not the one I have. Time for some Latin names to eliminate confusion yours is the Macropharyngodon meleagris mine is the Macropharyngodon bipartitus bipartitus. Thought we were talking about the same one although mine is often called a Peacock wrasse here is the blurb from a website it wont let me link

"The Splendid Leopard Wrasse or Vermiculate Wrasse is very colorful and well suited to these two names. However it is referred to by a half a dozen other descriptive names as well including; African Leopard Wrasse, Peacock Splendid Wrasse, Blue Star Leopard Wrasse, and Divided Leopard Wrasse. These too describe the fish's appearance, which changes from one beautiful color pattern as a female into another when becoming male. Pictured above is a juvenile or an adult female specimen*, an adult male has a linear patterning on the body with a pretty bluish green coloration."

*mine has the same markings as the one in the website photo.

How confusing!! So there are two (at least) types of leopard wrasse?

Yep a bit like the Wrasse that was mentioned, I saw a wrasse in my LFS and was told it was a Canary bright yellow with a single black spot on its side. Got home to look it up to find that what he was calling a Canary wrasse I could only find under yellow wrasse and a Canary wrasse wasn't anywhere near as nice.
We will get a lecture from someone about Latin names in a minute. It is useful for clarity but I think we all accept that unless it's your lifes work or you don't get out much that the common names are just fine.

haha. defo. i was majorly confused though!! I knew i'd read all about the leopard wrasse and the colours of females and males!! Just my luck to be two very similar types!! :p
