The Journey To Bringing My Imported Halfmoon Home

That is aweful!  We definitely don't hate you.  I have times like that.   I think I would have been " well sweetie, I don't understand why my May bill is due in April and that is not because my computer is not up to date with your system'

At that point I was just so annoyed that I wanted to do homework (which never happens). So I just hung up. I'll go to the cable office later and cry about it, maybe. I'm always worried about calling women I don't know "sweetie." It's kind of close to "baby," and that it inappropriate to say the least. However, my landlady calls my honey, darling, etc, but I don't mind because she's really nice and reminds me of my grandmother.

I would have made sure it was in a sarcastic tone that way she wouldn't have been able to say that you were being inappropriate. Plus she used the term first so to me that opens everything up to whatever but I understand what you are talking about.

Yes. Regardless, I will be taking my bill to the company this week and hopefully get some answers.

This weekend has been a little crazy. Met my new puppy. She's beautiful and I love her. Now I'm apparently battling a staph infection. Not fun. It's on my left arm just above my elbow. I've no idea how I got it. I had to move things out of my old room at my mother's house. She's been taunting me about a really expensive something she's getting for my birthday which is still six months away. I'd rather not know about her plans as now I can't stop thinking about it. I'm going over there later to see if I can't get a few more clues.

My fish will be here on Friday! I can't decide between Colt and Ford. I have a friend whose son is named Colt. I hate him. He stole a dog from me once and then she got hit by a car and stolen again. He's really skeezy. Anyway, I like the name Colt, just wondering if it will leave a bad taste in my mouth.

What say you all?

I like the name colt also, it's funny though how knowing someone with a name that you don't like leaves a bad taste in your mouth...

Go with Ford, that way you'll never neglect a water change ;)

Colt is the name for a young male horse and Ford reminds me of the car manufacturer.
Can't remember now and can't be bothered to traipse back thro the thread just now - what colour is he?

I think I may just call him Ford but Colt is a really strong name.

I think the tank is ready for him. I may be adding some more plants, but I'm not sure yet. What all should I be doing when I get him? How should I acclimate him to the tank?

He is black copper with hints of blue, green and yellow. I was thinking Colt because of his gorgeous fins. They kind of remind me of a stallion prancing about, but his strong body shape and sort of determined face makes me think of Ford, a nod to the car company and to the verb as in to cross something, usually with gusto.

I personally acclimate over a 30-40 min period but some may think that a bit bonkers!

I turn the lights off, float the bag for 10 mins for temperatures to become equal, then every 5 mins allow some of the tank water into his bag, then after about 30 mins tip the bag on its side in tank to allow betta to swim into his new tank :)

For most of my fish, I float for fifteen minutes, pour the water and fish into a small container and add a little of the tank water. I don't like to add the bag water. Think this will be fine for him? I've never had a fish shipped from a different country before.

I can't see why not, some folk don't even do that.

Exciting :D!!!!

I've just collected mine this afternoon. Different to the one I'd intended to buy but he wouldn't let me take it as his eyes were completely scaled over. However I've come away with its next door neighbour who is lighter in colour but still has partially scaled eyes altho at some angles I can see his eyes.
I did ½hr temp acclimation and now I'm doing mini water changes. Fishy (no name yet) came in 400ml water and I've tested both mine and the transport water. There was double the nitrAtes in the transport water than mine. Ammonia and nitrItes tested 0 for both waters. What I couldn't understand was the pH of the transport water showed up dark pink whcih doesn't even figure on the API colour chart. It was at 7.6 on the ordinary pH chart, but to me that means test on the high pH and it was the pink colour! The transport water looked like very weak tea as it was dosed with Indian Almond Leaf. Could that have affected the test result? Anyway I've done 4x15ml exchanges and now I'm about to do a few 30ml exchanges. Then I'll retest the "transport" water to see if the pHs are similar.
Wish me luck!

What will he do with him? Wow that appended quickly? From the video anyway.

Not sure about IAL and ph, but pics please ASAP :D bet you're excited :D

I'll update the story of ERAGON on my 30L Betta tank thread so I don't hog atti's thread again! Soz atti!

Lol I thought it was your thread too when I saw your post!

Haha, I just noticed all this. I was a wee bit confused as I was reading. Mama, it's cool. I'm assuming you've got pictures on your thread of your new guy. I only have four days until mine gets here. (And 12 days until Huxley comes home!)
