The Indecisive Journal Of Trod's 5 Footer

after some very rude words,

I swear that swearing works  That's why I do the majority of my tank work when the kids are outside, out of the house or already sleeping  I couldn't find my calc test kit that I bought a month ago and I start swearing and there it is :good: It gives me a release so that I don't start breaking what I'm working on

I'm beginning to sound like my sister (navy sailor).

Whoa whoa, slow down there :). No need to be adding phyto now... You're still cycling. Your water is in such a massive state of biological flux now, there's no need to muddy the water with phyto.

As for the skimmer, keep running it. LIkely you're removing the extreme amounts of DOC's on your rock. When a skimmer has a LOT of work to do, it sometimes overbubbles like you're experiencing. It should settle down in a few days.

 Ok thanks ski, Will put phyto back in fridge

Bagu, if you edit your post with a link in, for some reason it breaks the link. You need to post again with the link, or fix it, not sure howw to do that though seems to be a glitch on the site.

its not working, if you want to PM me if you want it Trod or anyone else, ill just paste some stuff from the site ^^

Well sponges are filter feeders it may die or it may thrive depending on the plankton population you have in your tank.
(Psst, that would be "colonizing sponge". Being as their bodies are soft and fibrous, they are incapable of 'encrusting') -Em

might be a bit useful ^^

As long as it is not another forum, copy and paste the address into your post, we can just copy and paste it to browser then.

Big C has brought this issue up with other mods and admin, he had the same problem not long ago.

it is another forum :(

Looks like a sponge to me as well. The link isn't working because the name of the forum is on the filtered words list and gets replaced with ######## (which then breaks the link).

Really wish we could link to other forums to be honest as it sometimes makes it really difficult and us as members often miss out on good information because of it (its not like people on here dont go to other forums or know that they exsist :) ).

Anyway :) its all looking good, cant wait to see some lions in here as well.

hi trod

see if you go in the tank with your debit/credit card and shake it and see if the stuff blows around the tank if not it must be a type of sponge and if all ripes apart then then that means stuff in the lr had died and has a coating growing on top of it.

thanks scott

Agree with Scott. Probably a good idea to see how firmly secured it is. You could also try hitting it with a spray from a turkey baster and see what happens. If you ask me, it looks more like something dying than a sponge, its too translucent for most sponges. JMO

Edit, if anyone wants some rules clarification on posting links to other forums, feel free to PM me. It get's a little complicated and I don't want to take up too much of Trod's journal with a lengthy explaination :)

Good call Scott and Ski :good: Just blasted it off with turkey baster, so next question, is that good or bad

Day 10

Got up this morning to absolute disaster  water everywhere around the tank, OMG panic, just a bit. I turned everything off and mopped the floor up, then went on the hunt for the leak, once found I got some silicone and sealed it, it was coming from the top of the tank, the rubber seal had gone, so it hadn't been noticed until I filled the tank to the top, and it has been gradually dripping away un-noticed, anyway all sealed now and water tight again :good:

20% water change done.

Ammonia 1.5 still so didn't bother with other tests.

Another question, Lights, should I be putting them on now or not?????

Someone tell me all this will be worth it
