The death dyein in people's sigs.

what does finding a cure for cancer have to do with messing with the genetics of fish?

IMO people dont know where to stop when they start something - its better to leave the box CLOSED rather than open it and then let it spiral out of control - first fish, then what? what monsters are we unleashing?

can you show a gourami like yours that is natural?

most fish we keep are not natural and have been messed with of some sort.

the cancer cure was purely a defence to "messing with nature" comments

bettas,molies,guppies,discus, gouramis....the list is endless

i dont see the point in everyone having these massive signatures with hundreds of pictures in.

Obviously i am thoroughly against the dyeing of fish but it doesnt need everyone to have a big picture to show that they support it.

Just my 2p...

I don't agree. Too many people are not even aware that fish are dyed!! I think it's very good to have things about it is signatures.

Yeh but why not have a banner on the fish forums at the top or something? Surely this would work much better than people having bloated signatures!

its just my opinion :)

I am not saying they should have 2 and 3 of them! That annoys me! I just think it's a little but good step towards making people aware.

JMO ;)

some sigs are very annoying...the tank specs are good to see what people keep but even that can get stupid... theres more bandwidth taken up in sigs on this forum than there is in actual posts.

This topic just reminds me of a couple of days ago when I was looking for some lyrics to a song. I did a search and found that almost 95 percent of the sites that host lyrics had same wrong lyrics from this one song and also had some of the same misspelled words. Seems a lot of the sites just copied the lyrics from other sites without actually listening to the song themselves and spreading out bad information. Just made my think about these dyed fish.

I usually don't respond to posts like this because it's not like I'm going to change anyone's view BUT here are my opinions.

I do not believe that breeding two wild bettas that have slightly longer fins to make more bettas that have slighty longer fins and go on and on until you reach the bettas of today is bad. Breeding bettas, they are the same species that was likely to mate anyway. Also breeding for color is not bad. This doesn't hurt the fish and we are not like crossing breeding it with a guppy to make it's fins longer. The process of making long fins was all natural. Plus there are still MILLIONS and MILLIONS of wild fighter plakats out there. As well as imbellis and such that haven't been messed with.

It's just like breeding two winning fighter plakats together to get a stronger fighter. It's not a bad thing it's just making the most of what the fish have.

I also think it's just like breeding two winning show dogs together to get an even better show dog for next time... this is how I think of breeding two bettas with certain traits.

I don't see how breeding two fish that would be likely to mate in the wild is the same as throwing to different species together and forcing them to breed. These fish would never see eachother in the wild and would certainly not mate as opossed to guppies who would naturally mate together.

It's not so much that people do this that pisses me off because certain hybrids are okay but bloodparrots lives have been affected. There are many things they can't do like other fish can because of man. I don't hate the fish because of man's stupid creations because it's not the fishes fault. I actually think they are cute but what man has done to the fish is what pisses me off....

Those are my opinions :D

 Bloated signature??? I don't see any bloated signatures around here

Ah, this point has been brought up multiple times.

Those who have followed DBD from the beginning may have noticed that I did not sell the Parrots until about 2 or 3 months after the site and campaign were underway. The parrots are there to spread out the undyed version of these fish not availiable undyed in pet stores (most of the time). Some of the money also goes to DBD, as I pay for DBD, and the parrots pay me. Legally, I have to put that disclaimer unless I spend a lot of time, effort, and money to log and prove that every last cent made goes to DBD. Some,, if not all, goes to DBD, but not directly, meaning it pays me, and I pay for DBD. How much do youy think it costs for the following:
Advertising Consultants
Web Hosting
Domain Service
Web Design
Banner Creation
Site Upkeep
Etc.
It costs a lot. I spend a lot of money on DBD. That is a way to make it back.

Any questions?

okay auratus cichilids do interbreed in the wild just like pearl danios and zebra danios do to make leopard danios.

And Mike what exactly is an "Ex-Murdurer" Is that someone who reserected there victim from the dead? I want an answer

Mike what exactly is an "Ex-Murderer"?

I know that you got that from a DBD banner, but, again, I do not create the banners. They are submitted to me by those people who have taken the time to create them. Why don't you take it up with Anthony Swinsinski, creator of over 15 of the banners availiable, and tell him about his little error. I'm sure he would appreciate it after spending many hours working hard to create these banners to spead the word about dyeing.

just throwing this out there...

Someone who drinks a lot of alcohol and then stops, is an ex-drinker.
Someone who smokes and then gives up is called an ex-smoker.

now, someone who commits murders, but then stops this would be a........

Murderer implies that the person is actively murdering people. Someone who murdered one person would be a person who has commited murder, a murderer in the correct sense, would be someone intent on continuing to kill people.

Just a point on semantics, I dont think calling someone a murderer if they are not intent on killing more people is grammatically correct, and ipso facto, an ex-murderer is correct, we are just using the wrong grammar as a matter of course, so when it is used correctly we dont recognise that it is in fact correct.
If you get my meaning!

PS, stop nit picking, this is a good cause. Jeezzzzzzzz
