The Adventures Of A Marine Newbie...

excellent, will be fragging it tomorrow so that will give it time to establish a bit and make sure it is ok :)

He's really big now! :D

Sadly I have to report the sudden loss of the red mushroom (it was going well and then just shrivelled up totally) and also The Brain who was picked to death by the peppermint shrimp :(

The monti and the stylophora are blossoming wonderfully though as are the rics and the hammer.

I've noticed a slight increase in glass algae since increasing the lighting but am hoping that will settle down eventually. Alfred likes to graze on the glass algae anyway

Lovely photos :good:

Is that the dreaded Aptaisia I see in the photo with Jacques and the hammer? Am fighting the blooming stuff myself

I need to get a peppermint shrimp - I've got the blooming stuff popping up all over the place - so you would recommend the shrimp then?

I had a few aiptasia in my tank. I zapped them with joes juice and got a few peppermint shrimp as well. Not sure which if them sorted it out in the end but they have never come back. However I also suspect my peppermint shrimp may have eaten my yellow polyps (which vanished not long after I added the shrimp). I would recommend them though, I have 3 and though I dont see them very often they are quite pretty.

Seffie, my pepperint shrimp did the job but in my small tank it also kept irritating my trachy, trying to eat the food it caught (I think) and ended up killing it :(

Hey Barney....how are the frags settling in?

Yeah all doing good :) have given away some of the GSP alreayd but still have a couple of frags left. If you still want some I will hold on to it for you if you want, have a small frag of pulsing xenia as well if your interested.

Yes please!!! That would be awesome! I want some pulsing xenia! I love how it moves

Pm me your postcode and maybe we can arrange a suitable collection date. I still have the little monti frag for you :D

While we're on the topic of aiptasia killing, I read an interesting topic elsewhere on the net about using DC electricity (from a lantern battery) and a couple home-made propbes to kill aiptasia... Interesting theory if anyone's interested :)

oh lordy, how I would like to try that one :hyper: however knowing me I would end up zapping something I loved! Can we have the details anyway?
