im looking to buy a new internal filter as my fluval 4 (not plus) is about 7 years old and has started rattling so think its time for a new 1 is the tetratac in1000 any good ? what else can you suggest i dont want an external and my tank is a 4 foot 120L

I'd stick with a Fluval for internal filtration with the new Fluval U4 getting my vote,
an alternative would be the eheim aquaball,

I'd go for a Fluval internal; never had a problem when I ran my 4ft tank with a single 4 Plus. You may even find some cheap as they're being with a newer model. Lovely big sponges in the Fluval 4 Plus.
