Test Kit Help!

hi. i bought an API Freshwater Master Test Kit on ebay but they did not send the instructions. anyone know how to use this one?? it said on the heading that it was for saltwater too and i bought it in such a rush that i didnt notice it was a freshwater one, does this matter?? thanks for any help

not heard of API, i use interpet. is it tablets or liquid? I take it you have the colour scales to monitor the quantity??

yes, i've the test tubes, scales, bottles of test liquid and stops/holder for bottles, but no instructions! please help guys!

Cant you contact the seller, unless you find someone with the same one you wont know the correct quantities to add.

they said they didnt have the instructions even tho the picture of the kit they were selling was the new box and the item was described as new! saying that they only sent 2 test tubes when i think there should be 4!

If they advertised the listing actually saying that the item was incomplete then thats fine, otherwise you are entitled to a full refund. Why dont u see if ur LFS has the same test kit, they might let u read the instructions if theyre feeling nice, then u can write down the important info All out of ideas now i think

theres the problem, theres nolfs in northern ireland and the nearest marine shop is 30 miles away! a little far just to read a leaflet, lol!

It may be posible to get a copy of the instructions but you will also need the 5 colour cards to go with it. These are the most important pieces of 'bumf' as you need to compare the colous of the tests with the card to get the readings. These cards also have instructions on how to use the test kit. There should be 4 test tubes.

I could scan & send the necessary but as I said the colour cards tell all you need to know so as long as you have all 5 you should be ok.

If it's a saltwater kit you need then it's no good.

turn the colour cards over, and the instructions are on the back.

I have the same test kit, and the cards tell you exactly the same as the instruction book, they're just in shorthand!

instructions for the Freshwater test kit:

Ammonia: 8 drops of bottle 1, 8 drops of bottle 2, shake and wait 5 mins
Nitrite: 5 drops, shake and wait 5 mins
Nitrate: 10 drops of bottle 1, shake test tube, shake bottle 2 for 1 min, 10 drops of bottle 2, shake and wait 5 mins

all with a measure of 5ml of water.

dunno, my API test kit only tests for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and Ph.
