Temp Problem Please Help

So, I just put a thermometer on my 1.5 gallon betta tank. Temps 70 degrees. I have a small 7.5watt preset heater. Can I add that or will it likely overheat the tank? Thanks

A typical preset heater in the US is set for 78F. That will be fine for a betta splendens.
