Tank Updates. 3 Months In.

Got my first saltwater fish today.

I got a common clown from the water zoo in peterborough.

I've also found what i think is a mushroom growing on a piece of my live rock.

Pics to follow.

Anyone else use the water zoo?

hes pretty busy covering every inch of the glass at the moment.

He seems pretty chilled though. Should be in the rock work in no time.

Heres the new full tank shot. Note the lower levels of algae in the background.

Oh, and one more thing.

I haven't seen my turbo in 3 days.

I used to know his hiding place but i don't know where he is.

Should i rip it all apart to find him or respect his privacy?

None of the hermits have a nice new shell and i can't smell anything bad coming from the tank so i think he is ok.

I'm not wanting to repeat bigc's recent escapades.

I last saw him 3 mornings ago doing laps of the glass.

Looks cool :good:

Like the spaces in the rock work. Kinda what I'll be shooting for :)

And your clown is sooo cute  I love clowns.

about 10 minutes after my last post the turbo snail came hairing out from behind some live rock and stayed chomping on the back wall for most of the night.

I knew he wouldn't let me down.

There was obviously a spat between hermits overnight as a red and blue hermit have swapped shells.

I went to one of my lfs today (maidenhead aquatics, crowland) and asked if they had any small frags of coral that i could buy on the cheap.

I got a toadstool for £7.50 and this 4 inch long piece of live rock for £5

I could see what looked like a mushroom on it in the shop but once i got it home i found it had 3 seperate colonies on it.

Any id and info regarding placement would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like clove polyps and something similar to Cyphastrea or Montipora. Get it up high in your rock stack :)

thanks ski. Bit of a bargain then really. Hope they all spread.

I can easily frag the rock they are on into 3.

I got a toadstool of some description too.

I have that in quite a reasonably well lit and high flow area.

I touched it a few times with bare hands and damn did my hand stink after that.

Is this a bad sign or normal?

 You touched it!!! I'd be scared to touch it

Might not be the best thing for it though, unless you had to move it

thought i would post a pic of my toadstool now it has stopped sulking and has its fingers out.

I tried pushing it into various nooks and crannies around my rocks but it always broke loose in the current.

Now it is lightly held in place by 2 rocks.

Any id would be welcome. I know you are there, ski.

how local are you, gazzab? I used to live 100yds from the water zoo. i now live in spalding.

I would say that the waterzoo is a bit more reasonable in price but maidenhead has a better invert selection.

the fish at both are in very good health. I have had lots of very good advice from maidenhead.

I know someone who works at the water zoo.
