Hi all!

I am currently trying to cycle my old hospital tank, in the hope that when I invest in a new tank come the end of the month I can transfer my filter media over.

My quesion is this:

When cycling my tank, do I have to use water additives that you would usually use when doing a water change (i.e. chlorine treatement)?

many thanks
sam

Im a newbie not one of the more experienced on here...but yeah, from everything I've read on here, you have to use dechlorinator for everything or the chlorine will kill the bacteria.

Definitely if you live in an area that uses chloramines. If its chlorine then you can let it degas but tbh you're best off just using the dechlorinator, it doesn't cost much gives peace of mind and saves you having buckets of degassing water hanging around.
