Syrian Hamster

My gray was an absolute monster, we named her 'Bitey'. I had to take her out of her cage with a leather glove, then she would be sweet.

That looks like a great cage.

Awww how cute!!! We have a lil black hamster called kiki, she has the pink maze cage (rotastak) and is so placid, both my 2 and 4 year old children handle her daily and shes never bitten them. xx

well sadly she died, i don't know why but we had a heat wave that day, could that be anything to do with her death? she just curled up in the corner and when we found her she was hardly breathing, she drank abit and seemed to perk up a bit, but quickly went down hill again and died in my hands :byebye:

:rip: Martha

awww, poor hamster, thats unusual, perhaps it was the shop you got it from, mentioning no names but i no a shop nr me and thr rabbits and hamster dont last long at all.
sorry X

i don't think so she seemed so healthy in the time we had her, she was just getting used to being handled aswell, and was still a baby

im so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately, 'looking healthy' doesnt seem to count in small pets. One symptom to watch for is diarhhea (sp?), but its not the only one, nor is wet tail the only cause of death. Its why new pets should be quarantined; like you would fish.
Its horrible, but happens so often :(
My condolences hun :(

Im sorry for your loss :(
i have found that petshops sell hamsters,mice,gerbils...etc that are mass bred, therefore no regards too health of the parents come into thought :(
i had this trouble with a few mice i got before i started breeding and paying a bigger price for breeders show mice :)
