I would definitely chip in, after all the time i have spent here.

But ultimately, it is William's decision. If he agrees to it, at least he knows we are supporting it.

i would give money. another website i use to frequently visit also set up a donation drive. at the time i visited this website every day and it was a most helpfull place. i donated $100 to them.

now, this website isnt as good as that one was (there is alot of snooty users here) so i probably wouldnt give $100 but i would give somthing for sure.

i know there is occasional power outages which takes the website offline. if the admin would like, i have a computer ups i would send him/her to use on the server for free. this would directly benefit everyone who uses this website.

In theory it's a good idea. I think it should be optional though as not many under 16's have any spare money at all. Saying that, I am 31 and have no spare money either.......as I have children to feed and clothe etc. :)

Definitely optional.

This is goodwilled donation, not forced subscription fees or nonsense like that.

This website has saved my fish so yes, I would give if it was needed. The information I've recieved in here has been phenomenal! I agree though that I would want to know that the money was going to something specific for the website (equipment etc)

Maybe William could let us know how much it costs to run this site? Is there something specific that he needs to continue it?

I have found this site to be invaluable. I would defnitely support the site if it was threatened. I have investigated other sites and found them to be slow in replies and not too friendly either sometimes. The community here are quick to respond and helpful

Setting up a Paypal account would make it quite easy for everyone to contribute to the site via credit cards etc. I've seen many other sites do that even though they don't provide the wealth of information this one does.

Okies, well thanks for the offers everyone, I am still not sure of the tax implications even if the site were to accept "donations".

Several months back, this site just got too big to be on a regular shared server, so I had to buy a server, which is now dedicated to it. The server cost over £1000 :/ , but thanks to my brother running the hosting company he helped me out and let me have it for £500, the specifications are:
Model Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.40GHz
80gb Hardisk (dual)
512mb RAM

The monthly costs are also increasing - this month we have so far used 62gb of bandwidth (a 10gb increase on last month  ) The standard cost is £1 a gb, but I think if we get to 100gb it will drop a bit in price.

The totals were:
Unique visitors: 55832
Page Views: 1761422
Hits: 14738838

I've seen some other sites which are either plastered in adverts, especially flashy ones and popups AND accept donations, you should probably know those admins are blatantly raking it in, the last thing I would want people to think is that this is a business, or that their money would be paying my internet bill etc... I mainly run this site because I enjoy it, if I stop enjoying it then I might as well sell the domains or plaster it with adverts especially popups ;) so keep everything nice.

Next time we need to upgrade I'll contact you guys, we *could* buy some upgrades now for the server, but they are not really required, we still have a good bit of space on the hardisks, and the processor is more than enough for the time being (buying quality initially pays off).

After much thought I have actually thought of a use we could have if we could raise $199, this would be to fund the upgrade of Invisionboard - to a Lifetime registered version, it will cost $199 though. I have heard this will be neccessary to upgrade to the newest version when it comes out. ( http://www.invisionboard.com/download.cgi ). So we could try and pay for that if enough people think it's a worthy cause and we could raise that sum. :) Appreciate the offers, of support :)

William I have been a member of invisionboard for a long time and no it is not required to upgrade to the new version but it does offer support.
