Twisters like for bread work too. That thin wire will rust and fall off fast. By then the glue and hopefully some roots are attached.
Or mono line..cut whenever you feel is long enough.
But I strongly recommend tying the plant...Aquascapers make it look easy to just dab a plant and its good forever. Plants I've done that to never hold as long as tie it down then glue,did.
