Hi, Just been to wharf aquatics and they have some sunbeam oscars in, imagine an albino, but much, much brighter.

I don't know if they hold this colour as they grow and they're not dyed (wharf are an amazing shop) but has anyone else heard of them?

thanks

I have seen them at my lfs and they said that they think that they are either dyed or genetically engineered. I would get them anyway because if it was dyed you could try to keep it happy and give it a full, happy life.

Well if it's dyed then I don't think it's gonna be living a full life. All fish that are dyed are the hardiest fish out of the bunch as most of the fish that are dyed will die within a short time and don't make it to sale because the dye kills them. The fish that do make it to the stores and which people buy will have a much much shorter life as their immune system is shot so a little batch of illness like ich or something can kill them. I would think it would be very rare to have a fish live well into maturity after being dyed. It's sad that people do it just to make money as the fish never really has a chance to live a good, long life

I've never heard of them so I don't know anything about whether or not they've been dyed or not.

If they are dyed, please don't buy them. Don't buy ANY dyed fish. Just let them die in the tanks at the LFS so they will stop torturing these poor fish.

You are just promoting the business by buying dyed fish. The LFS recognizes that a certain type of fish = business, so they order more from the wholesaler. The wholesaler increases the amount of dyed fish to compensate for the demand.

Any one ever heard of blueberry oscars? They are so cool. Do you guys think that they are dyed? I want to get one, but if it is dyed I am going to think twice.

Definitely not, they are articifically dyed Oscars, and they will probably die after a month.

Heres a dyed oscar looks like a blueberry head and a sunbean back

The die isnt going to kill them, but it isnt good for them what so ever. While I was htere I met a guy who has 5 of them and he said that he has had no problem with them. He has had them for 4 years!!!!!!!!! But that still dosent mean that people should die fish. Yesterday I was getting a tadpole and they gace me a free dyed fish, but I dont know what kind it is.
