I'm thinking of removing the danios from my community setup (see signature) and replacing them with either 4 angels or a couple of discus. I'm happy that I can keep the water quality stable at current levels with either choice of fish. My worry is that the discus may be a little timid for the setup as far as food goes. There is generally a made rush for the food and I'm afraid that the discus may be too shy to claim their share of the food and will suffer as a consequence.

I want any fish I choose to flourish rather than just survive so which are the more suited fish for the tank?

discus are very fussy and should be kept withtheir own kind. they need pristine conditions and daily water changes. alot of discus tanks are barebottom to help maintain perfect conditions.

beautiful fish though.

Is 5ppm nitrate not good enough for these guys?! My water quality is stable at this level with 20% weekly waterchanges. It hasn't changed by more than a few ppm in six months. I've heard conflicting information about the quality of water required for discus. All say that the quality must be good but some say that it only has to be exceptional if breeding is the aim.
I class my water quality as good.
