I also have a shiny new clean tank now as the other started leaking! so that may help things.

Now you can take the whole thing back to Aldi and get a refund!!!

I hope the tank I have a my Mums doessn't start to leak as she will not be too happy with me as she has it in her new consevatory and water will not do the floor any good.

When I first rang Pennine about problems with her tank I got the impression that the lights was not the only complaints they were having!

No more fish have died and i still haven't seen the tiger barbs attack a single fish....so maybe it was just one of those things and they just got ill?

The only change i've made is moving the air freshener away but i duno if that had anything to do with it?

Don't necessarily blame the tiger barbs for the eaten guppy. I know how distressing it is to find a favourite fish half eaten but fish are not sentimental and ALL fish even guppies will happily eat their former tank mates as soon as they die. It's rare to find a dead fish that hasn't been nibbled, especially if it's been there a few hours.

regearding the guppies, most of them are very inbreed which causes them to be very unhealthy, it also shortens their lifespan dramatically, idk how old they are but it might have an explanation to them all of a sudden dieing coupled with the NH3 and NO2.

How do i know if a guppie is imbred or not?

The plant is fully back to life now. im putting that down to the light being left on too long if thats possible to cause it to brown off a bit along the edges of the leaves?

You can't really tell with shop bought species. Unless you've bought them from a specialised breeder, which have detailed records of their lineage, the best you can do is ask your LFS for any information they have.
