Strange Eggs... Or Somethingelse?

:hyper: I do that too! I call myself making sure they are still alive.

I meant shallow sand. I have a small piece of wood that has a few small java ferns attached. It is covered with brown furry stuff though right now. I can't keep the stuff off of it. so I was planning on putting a clean piece of wood in.
I have a pot that is planted with egeria and one that has some water sprite that I was going to put in. That way the sand don't have to be deep at all. In the other tank the sand is barely deep enough to cover the bottom. That way they can nose around all the way to the bottom. I have found it stays a lot cleaner like that. I usually float some water sprite too.
The tank has a hob filter and bubble bar. It also has a submersible light bar (blue) for night lighting. This way I can keep an eye on them. This is the tank that is right by my bed.
I have some plant weights so I can drop in a few more plants if they need them. All I have right now is water sprite and egeria. I figured I would put the moss on the 2 caves and wood, then let it go where it wants. The other plants are in pots so they can be moved around easily. I have found that for the small tanks I needed them to be portable so I could change things for what was in them at the time.

Guess what I just found... More pepper eggs. My 29g is full of them! I collected about 20 and put in the net. The rest I just left.

:hyper: I just saw all 3 delphax too! I thought I had lost one. I hadn't seen it in several days. I guess not. They were all sitting there watching me collect the eggs. I didn't care for them much at first, but now they have really grown on me. (they were some of the ones that I was given instead of what I asked for) Now I am glad. They are kind of cool. :good:

I have been calling around, but noone gets live worms. I still have a few places to check though. I am 1 hour from the closest pet shop. I have to go even further to get to a decent one. There are also no fish groups anywhere near here. I have been trying to find one for a long time now. The closest one I found is in Texas. I have finally found 3 people here that are into fish. That is a start...

I have been known to give away small tanks and a few fish just to get people started. :shifty: Then they get hooked. :D That is how my sister got started. Now she has 2 tanks and looking for a larger tank.

I am working on my neice now... :shifty:

:good:

Hey... what do you think of my eye? I got bored. That is actually my eye. I cropped it from a pic.

Nice eye. Congrats on the spawns.

I'll get back to you tonight.

Nighty-night B)

I got my stuff for the big tank ordered (and a few extras for all of them) so I can get it arranged and get the fish moved around to free up a tank for the new corys. :D
I ordered some plants too. I ordered from 2 places and neither one had any mosses. How is that possible?
I guess I will keep looking. I have had no luck finding worms yet either.
I ordered so much stuff... I didn't get half of what I wanted though. That is always how it works out. I make a wish list, then I work on it a little at a time. (as money allows)
For now I am still hunting some assorted mosses, anubias nana petite, and worms. That is all that is left on the to get list. I really hope the wood I ordered is branchy like it said. If not... I won't get the look I am after.
I don't get why someone can't understand that for it to be branchy... it must have branches!

I will post again later. I am going to get my running done. Then I am going to start working on the tank. I am going to go ahead and start some of the changes. I can't move the fish until I get my order in though. :good:

:hyper: :yahoo: :yahoo:
Look what I found in my C. Aeneus tank!!!! :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

I just couldn't catch which ones laid them... I don't know if it was the regular or albino lady. :shifty: I guess I will know in a few days. :D

What do I do about the ones that are stuck together in a clump? There about 4 decent sized clumps. :X

Thanks :good:

I am trying to get an assortment of LF BN Plecs from a local breeder. When I pick those up I will see about your fish. If it is tomorrow I will stop by to talk to a lfs I know that will help me ship. Also the breeder has bags for shipping, and I will also talk to him about shipping, and what I will need.

Did you go to the website of California Black Worms?

here

or here

I recommend that you get the worm keepers if you keep 1/4 pound or more. My worms keep a month and more as long as I keep them clean and cold.

How long would they last if kept in the tank? My fridge stays too cold for them. It stays so cold that it puts ice chips in the milk, and completely freezes some things!
Can I get a small amount and put in the tank about once or twice a month and just let them munch till they are gone? I have 5 tanks with corys in them. (and another one in July) How long could they stay in the tank without causing a problem? I think I read that a week or 2 would be ok. How big do they (corys) have to be able to eat them?
Thanks for the info! :good:

My fry eat the worms as soon as they can hold onto them. The worms like it cold and as long as you don't freeze them solid, they seem to manage ice chips. I don't know the answers to the rest. When I over feed I find them dug down in the substrate and when I move decore I find them hiding under it. But I don't know how long theu last. I know they don't chose warm.

I have the bags and how to bag the LF properly. I need you to email me your address so, I can see who will ship to you for what cost. Your location can affect the shipping. You may freak when we find out what it is. :hyper:

Surely it won't be that bad for a few fish. I think it goes by weight. They can't weigh that much even with the water.
I sent my address. If you want to actually talk to me, you can send me the number and I will call you. It is free for me. Since you work nights you will need to let me know when to call though. That way I won't wake you.

My substrate for the 55 should be here the 7th so I can get things swapped around. All of my eggs should be hatched by then too. The eggs are in the tank that the long fins are going in. I have them all separated into different nets right now. After they hatch I will move them all into one double net, and the bigger ones that are in a net in there will move to the 29g. The fish in the 29g are going to the 55g. I am moving all of my fish to another tank except the newly hatched and the aeneus. They are staying where they are for now.
My peppered eggs started hatching last night. My aeneus eggs should be doing something in the next day or so. (if they are good) They are still pretty much white. They aren't fuzzy, but they are getting like a darker white center. It sort of looks like a paper white tiny little bit of crumpled paper in them. You can sort of see a little bit of the white I am talking about in the pics I posted on here when I first collected them. The white spots are much bigger now. I hope that is the albino fry in there, and not a problem with the eggs. I am planning to try to get some pics later today so you can see what I am talking about. I have to do a water change and add some new fungus meds so I will take the pics then.
Thanks :good:

 My eggs got fungus! I am trying to get all of the bad ones out, but with them being white it is really hard to tell on some of them.
The up side is that they have spawned again. One of the regular bronze and the albino male. I am thinking that I will move the adults this time. I was about to sanitize the net when I started thinking that they would probably do better if they weren't messed with. They are too close together just like before. I am afraid that they will form a ball like before. I think that is where my problem started with the last batch. So... I am going to move the big ones now. If the eggs don't do well, I guess I will put them back and see what happens. :good:

This is the pair in question. If anyone knows what they are... Please tell me.

for now I can only work with what I do know. (which isn't much)

I need more info on elegans too.

Thanks :good:

Hi to me they look like albino cory doras. I have a pair myself. Cory eggs if not fertile are white and a cream beigh colour if fertile. Thats what I read recently as I want to now breed not only gups and platys but also corries. Good luck.

Hi again....fungas is caused from high nitrate levels...for breeding corries its best to have 0 nitrate. This is just another thing i am fixing in my tank at the moment ready to get my corries to breed. Apparently they like water changes over a week...it makes them think the rains are here and they love to breed in clean water...and feeding well. So they think its all good to have babies.

If your eggs have fungas you might want to check your nitrate level. Im no expert but just giving any info I do have that might help you.

Good Luck...I really hope it all works out for you.

I have not heard that about nitrates. I will check my levels.
I checked. My nitrites and nitrates are testing 0. My water is very soft(25), my kh is between 90 and 100, and my pH is about 6.6
I don't think it was the nitrates.
Also there is more than one net in there that had eggs. This was the only one that got fungus. All the other eggs have hatched now. The last of them hatched today. These are peppered.
Now I have another tank with the aeneus eggs in it. I moved the adults this time, and left the eggs where they were. The first ones weren't fertile, the second all got fungus, and now I am working on the third. I really hope these make it.

Hi again...another thing you might like to check is to see what ph corries prefer. 6.6 seems a little acidic to me. This can also cause fungas.

I started looking into it for you so I could include correct info for you but I have a 3 year old daughter and its bath time.

Good Luck!
