I currently own a 90 litre (roughly) tropical fish tank and I'm looking for some stocking ideas. My Angelfish recently passed away, leaving only 6 glowlight tetras in my tank. The tank is cycled and has been up and running for over a year.
I'm looking for fish that are sold in most fish stores, as I don't have very many to choose from.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

Any suggestions on the species of gourami? And the amount?

I would like to get some cories as well.

1 or 2 opaline gourami (1 male max)

common corydoras are albino, bronze, peppered, panda and julii/trilineatus

The Dwarf gourami are great looking. They get to a nice size and are blue and red. There are also honey gouramis which are lovely little fish.

I like the look of the honey gourami.
Do you know anything about the gold gourami. Some stuff came up about it when I searched for the honey gourami.

After a little bit of googling I have found out that honey gouramis aren't good with fin nipping tetras.
I found that my glowlights sometimes nipped my angels fins. Could this be a problem if I decide to get gouramis of some type?
So far I am interested in:
-honey gouramis
-gold gouramis
-blue gouramis
-opaline gouramis
-julii corys
-panda corys
If anyone has any advice or info for me I'd love to hear it.

(EDIT: added opaline gouramis)

Any of those fish would be fine.

In my experience blue gouramis can be aggressive with themselves so probably best to just get 1 if you choose to go with them. Personally I find the opaline colour morph more attractive but that's a personal thing.

Cories should be kept in groups to make them there most active, 6 is normally the recommended minimum group size. While different species of cory will group together, especially those that look similar, I've found that 6 of one species is better than 3 of 2.

I've never kept the other kinds of gourami but from what I've read and heard they are both fairly peacefully.

Thanks for the info Peggers.

I forgot to put the opaline gourami in my list. But it really depends on what is in my LFS. I won't know for sure what I'm getting until I go there and check out what they've got.

I will probably get 6 corys as you suggested and I would prefer to get the julii corys. But again, it depend on what my LFS has in stock. They usually have them so hopefully I will be in luck.

I now know that if I decide to get blue gouramis I should only get one, but what about the other species? Are they aggressive towards themselves?
Can blue gouramis live peacefully with other species of gouramis?

I know that honey gouramis can be kept in groups as they used to have a display in my lfs of them. I'm unsure if you can keep blues with other.

Do you know about gold or opaline gouramis? Can they be kept with themselves or mixed with other gourami species?

this might seem untrue, but when we left for puerto rico on a trip to visit family when i was little we had a gold and i think either blue/3-spot/opaline gourami. when we came back 1 or 2 months later there was a tiny little third gourami! so im going to assume that they can interbreed. gold was very peaceful, but the other one ate my crab, other newt, and i think pestered a ghost knife to death. he even ate tiger barbs.

believe me, i dont even believe it but it happened!

If I'm not mistaken, gold, blue, & opaline gouramis are all just different color morphs of the same species.

Doesn't that mean they can all live together and they will all be as aggressive or peaceful as each other?
