Hi guys,

I wasn't really sure which forum to place this in, but heres my question.

I have just finished cycling my little 34litre (7.4 gal ish) tank and have 3 platys in it at the mo doing fine. I wanted to put a male betta in there as well at some point and an algae eater of some sort. It will have to be quite small of course so i'm not sure what to get.

I did see a hong kong plec in my lfs which they said will only grow to a couple of inches. Then I also saw a hillstream loach, which looked the same, so i'm a bit confused  Does anyone know anything about these fish, are they the same? + are they suitable for my tank or would an apple snail or something else be better?

Thanks

Umm... with other fish? Not a good idea. That's why their called fighting fih. Sorry if I misunderstood you though.

I did want to put a betta in, I have one in my large community tank (see sig) and he's fine. I have always been told that one male is fine, but I could just have had good luck with him.

hilstream loaches are often call hong kong plecos,
butterfly plecos and a host of other names.
