I have a 120 litre ferplast cayman 80 tank, i have co2 kit (pressurised) at around 1 bubble per second maybe slightly more, enough to keep the drop checker green anyway.
I have 2 medium-large pieces of bogwood and the plants cover around 75-80% of the gravel.

The ph is about 7.2-7.6 (difficult to tell from the test kit)
Nitrate and nitrite is 0 and ammonia is 0

I havent put any tropica plant nutrition plus in for a while, my plants are growing... some very slow some quite fast. The main problem is the hair algae is growing alot quicker than the plants, mainly on the bogwood, i did clear off as much as i can but its coming back, how can i get it to dissappear!!!!!

Please help!!

algae needs 2 main things:- Excess nutrients, excessive light. Cut down on ffeding or light and all will be good.

i have 1.5 watts per gallon with reflectors, i would like to think i dont feed too much!! i have my lights come on 8am-1pm and then 3pm -9pm

any more advice is that too long for the lights???

would start to cut the hours on the light to REDUCE the algae first off. Then up the time the lights are on slowly. Sorry if I sound patronising but it is a slow and laborious process.

its ok, any reccommendations as for times??

very welcome. Pluck as much of the algae by hand as you can, then the light reduction should do the rest. If the tank is near a window, draw the curtains during a sunny day

it is opposite a window but the sun only gets near it during late afternoon, it never actually shines on it. will try to close the curtains if i can!!!

nice one only to reduce the problem. Methelyne Blue is a good thing to kill the light, but it may stain your rocks blue

right, i'v e cut back on the light time, 8 to 1 and 7to 9 as get a fair bit of light in the room. Its slowed the algae a bit but its still growing! What else can i do, i.m feedin less than i used to but even this is making me think its not enough food for the poor fish. Please help me even more, any details are on previous post, any further details needed please ask

Flourish excel doses will and do help kill off hair algae. Overdosing is a tried and tested method to kill it off. Read up on overdosing it as i havent done it before (search forum: overdose excel).

Im dosing the correct amount every day and its keeping my algae at bay :D
