Starting to get VERY irritated at this site now...

64 bit operating system, x64 based processor
8GB RAM Intel Core i.5
Windows 10
I did it! Thanks for simple instructions :D ;)
More than welcome. That PC isn't that old

BTW, you can still surf the net when defragging, but it *may* be a little slower than normal

You really need to make sure your Avast is up to date with the current definitions, and run an anti-virus scan

Don't do it during the defrag, though

Thank you so much for the advice! I guess I thought of it as old since computers update and improve so rapidly, and I've already had it a few years and it was an older one from my bro when I got it. Plus the battery not holding charge anymore, and cooling system beginning to fail...
Okie doke - tonight I'll make sure Avast is updated and run that, and CCleaner. I still feel like death warmed up and largely bedbound from coughing/sneezing, sore ribs, coughing making me sick... urgh. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll feel more human again. Once I do, I'll have a lot of chores to catch up on, and need to transfer my fish from one tank to another, so can let it de-frag while I'm busy with all that! I'll let you know how long it winds up taking  How often are you meant to de-frag?

I thought you may be feeling a *bit* better, since you are on here today....hope you're back to feeling fine soon

Defrag every 6 months or so....newer PC's don't really need it...and of course, solid state hard drives don't ever need it

When you run CCleaner, be sure to run the "system" check as well....I think that's what it's called, I don't have it on this work PC...it might be "registry".....it's the 4th one down on the left...again, I *think*

I still feel rough, but I've slept so much, I can't sleep anymore! LOL. But yes, I think I'm a bit on the mend, thank you :)

I’ve had the ads in the middle of posts before but I’m now starting to get a video ad in the bottom right of the screen (mobile)

Yup... Irritating right? I found a good ad locker if you want the link. I can link it later today if you want

My Samsung A7 tablet has been out of order for a few weeks since it slid off my knee in bed but yesterday I got it working again. Just by tapping the screen and back a number of times and rubbing the surfaces heavily. Something clicked.
So last night I was on the forum and I too started getting pop-ups, something I NEVER EVER got.
I'll be "investigating" this and will report back.
Oh, best wishes ABD. Hope this weekend sees you better.

Ah, its spreading... How in irritating is it for you? Do they clear better on your tablet?

Has anyone taken my advice as to trying Firefox as your browser which has built in ad blocking?
Honestly no... I havent. But don't you have to download it?

Yes, just like any other app Firefox needs to be downloaded and installed. You can probably find it on your device's app store or can get directly through the following. Do not fall for traps that try to charge for the thing. Firefox is totally free and should only be gotten through your device's app store or through the link I provided.

As an add-on I just fired up my Mac book air using Firefox to navigate to this site and had ads including video. I then enabled the add blocker and all ads were gone. The ad blocker I used for this test was AdBlocker Ultimate which is free.

I DO have an old Android tablet that I may test on this but can't test on a true mobile such as a phone. Even though a computer geek I detest cell phones and don't carry. My land line does me just fine. At this point I can only verify that Firefox with AdBlocker Ultimate works with Windows and IOS (Apple) desktops and laptops but can't speak as to phones.

The Dutch forum went down the drain cause of the ridiculous amount of adds.
This one defintely is.more irritating and frustrating. Even thought about a virus first. If we have to download addblockers to normally be on and use the forum I am gone.

I won't be gone for now but if it gets really bad I may have to find another forum... Its SUPER irritating. Its like a fly that keeps going in your face and every time you shoo it away it comes right back

Noooo! Please don't go! We've already lost so many great members, will be terrible to lose you too!
