Whats the best way to start a new tank? I started one a few weeks ago and it didnt go well. I thought we did everything right but the fish kept dying. So how would i go about starting over?

If you just started it a few weeks ago, and you've already lost every fish, then it sounds like you didn't cycle it at all. So definitely visit the link Nick just posted, and it should help you out a lot!

One exception though. Don't bother with mollies or guppies from Petsmart or Petco. Tetras maybe, but the mollies and guppies will just keep dying on you no matter what.

I have also heard many bad things about the big chains quality of fish. They have a certain amount fish loss built in to their business plan, apparently.  
 
Luckily I got mine from a friend who bred and sold guppies and plecos. My fish are very healthy.
 
Try kijiji, when your tank is ready. Hopefully there will be some decent breeders near by.
