Hehe ya Andie I know what you mean...Its very heart breaking  But...you can only hope that the next time they might understand a little more on what they are doing since its not thier first time ya know...hehe I think daddy and mommy just had a panic and didnt know what else to do...haha but we will see...I have been watching your spawn diary :) good luck with your little ones :)

Jenga....I would say half my bettas are from Aquabid (Including Zion and Wendy) and the other half I get from Blue Betta USA That place is amazing and I would reccomend to all!! Amazing fish...I just bought a MG CT Pair from him and I expect them soon and cant wait...hehe anyways so yeah thats where I get most my fish those two places...I have a couple breeders on Aquabid that I usually buy from on a continual basis...its nice to have a trust worthy breeder to do bussiness with

Hehe we'll just have to let Zion give parenting classes to Fiyero

Next time, actually, I trust that with a decent nest Fiyero will handle it beautifully. He just got overwhelmed by the profusion of eggs showering down around him that I think he just started swallowing instead of spitting- an easy mistake to make, when you're parenting multiples! :p

Are Zion and Wendy Thai imports, then, or from another North American breeder besides BlueBetta USA? They're both just stunning; I'm sure their babies will be, too
It's like the spread of a disease in a closed community, isn't it? We infect each other in cycles. There is no escape
I know what you mean... I put in a pair on 10/02/05 (Roy and Winter) and have a back-up pair in the wings.

Andie~ these guys were from a breeder in hawaii...they are froma spawn he had...whether the parents were imported I have no clue but these guys weren't...:)

Ral~ How exciting! Isnt the whole processes just a blast?! I had so much fun with it from the very second I was setting up the spawn tank haha but thats just me....(I could have fun with a paper clip if its all I had) Good luck with them :) Make sure to keep us all updated!

Alright well since pictures is what you guys like...I have some :) these are of them a couple days ago...still not wandering far...kinda just chillin by the nest...of course by the next day they were in every which direction haha but....

This is the day I took daddy out...hes looking at me like..."I know what you're thinkin' Lady... :grr: "

Oh, wow- it's amazing for me to see so many of them. I have to hunt around the tank to find even one of mine- you must have to hunt to find a spot where there isn't one of yours!

They're so perfect  I can't wait to see how they turn out! :D

OHHHHAAAHHHHH!!! The parents are sooo prettyyyyy!
If you do sell some, please remember my name too!

Haha thanks everyone for such intrest in my youngsters...unfortunatly I don't think this is a very big spawn...BUT if not I definetly am planning on breeding Zion and Wendy again...:)

Anyways for an update...after having several water changes...I still have an algae problem? hmm not sure why...maybe just because! haha so I got some trumpet snails and added them so we will see what happens with that...as of now they are eating LOTS of BBS and growing and growing! They are actually kinda growing slowly...at least slower then my other spawn...guess we will see maybe just seems like that because there are less of them...if you look close I can see that some of the have gotten teeny tiny cadual fins :) so precious! :) hahaha I would say I have less then 100 that would be as high as I would guess...(Although Id say I probably dont have 80) So when they get bigger I will try and get pictures and count! (wont that be fun )

Wow, there really are TONS of them! Too cool! :D

Well I thought this would be a good time as ever to update...they are ALMOST two weeks old (tomorrow!!) and tonight I decided to do almost a complete water change...I have been having an incredible time with algea in this tank and decided I would try and clean it out best I could without doing a complete 100% water change...Well I am glad that I did because I found out what was causing this gross slime to ruin my tank haha I had a live plant in there for a while that I took out when they were free swimming (and added it to my new Imbellis tank!) and I found a leaf that had either fallen off or torn of that was wedged behind the filter! :grr: silly plant....anyways while I was doing this I thought what a good time to get an estimated count! so while I was slowly siphoning the water out...after I filled the bucket I took a flash light and another bucket and turkey bastered those little buggers out haha...which trust me was hard...before I got rid of any water I checked 5 times (No joke really 5 times haha) I am ALMOST maybe 99% sure I got them all haha...SOOO about 2 and 1/2 hours and 5 gallons later my totaly count was at about....

~163~!!!!!

(plus quite a few at the bottom that I couldnt count...) And I thought that this was going to be a small spawn boy was I kidding myself hahaha well now the real question is how big is my other spawn that I thought tripled this one! haha hopefully it dosent literally triple it haha and if it does...well I guess more babies to go around for everyone right?! haha

:hyper: OMG! Thats awesome!! Wonderful job taking such great care of the babies, I'm not suprised you got almost 200! Thank gawd you have a bunch, because I know quite a few of us NEED some of those babies! they dooo look like Mickey Mouse heads, LOL. They're adorable, and it looks like they've grown a lot. I'm almost dying for my fry to hatch... they are so irresistably cute when they're that tinsey

Those pics are amazing. You need to come over and take pics of my babies in the nest... I seriously could NOT get a pic of the eggs, no matter what setting I used. I'm glad you solved the algae problem, and all of the little ones are healthy and happy! Good luck with your snails ;)

Thanks splashluff~! You know I had a really difficult time taking pictures of the eggs as well I could never get a good shot that distinguished them from the bubbles! hahah but the fry are a bit easier or at least were for me...but I just took hundreds and hundreds of shots haha and ended up with 4 or 5 that were okay haha and its easy to focus if daddy is in the nest...but try not to get up in his face...or at least I didnt want to since I already had one baby eater I really didnt want two! hahaha good luck with your little guys im sure theyll hatch real soon!!

Haha I can just imagine your guy thinking it over as he was building his nest . . . "The last fellow ate his kids, did he? Well, I'll show him, I'll give her TWO HUNDRED! hah!"

It's terrific that you got so many; I'll say again, I have no idea how you manage to keep up with them when it's all I can do to keep track of five! :*)

Haha Andie...It's not to bad actually...infact my larger spawn is easier to take care of (as of now) then my smaller spawn...haha so I just look at it as this...you feed one you feed 200 haha I would have been lost without research or this forum but its not that bad really :) ....I mean don't get me wrong it is a LOT of work...lots of bugs, hatcheries, $$$$, time...as you know I am sure....its quite a handful...but when these little guys are all big I think it will be well worth it :)

I love this thread  What a wonderful turn out, congrats, Lady.

It's quite funny that you guesstimated 80 or less and wound up with nearly 200, that's how it always goes for me with the larger spawns- they look like less but when they hit a certain size,oh my. Look at all of them
