Spawn Diary » Kale + Akela

Yee! Set up the spawn tank today. ^_____^ My IAL isn't in there yet, but then again, neither are Kale or Akela. >.< I'm hoping IALs will arrive on Teusday or Wednesday. I'm hoping to start the spawn on Friday (4/14). Right now, my spawn tank's a 10 gallon half filled with aged dechlor. water, a (50w?) heater set to about 81º, a small amount of live floating water lettuce, and a big bunch of silk plants to one side. I tried and tried to find Java Ferns for the tank rather than going for fake plants, but they weren't aaannnyywhere.
-____- The tank's about 70% covered with seran wrap for humidity, I may increase it once I start the spawn. The sponge filter's on the way too.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kale and Akela, they're both Green Halfmoons from Erica's (splashluff) spawn. Both of their parents (Maui and Kula) were from Faith at Bettatalk. Kale's a marble BF, and Akela's a solid green. I'm hoping to get some really nice babies from them.

If anyone thinks they may be interested, I'll take baby reservations early, I'm sure there will be PLENTY to go around. >.< heh. I really hope it'll be successful. They both seem ready. Kale always has a big bubblenest going and Akela aaalways has breeding bars.

I'll take some pictures of the spawn tank and maybe some more pictures of Mom and Dad once my camera's charged, but for now, here's Kale:

Sorry there aren't any of him flaring and showing off his HM tail, all of my flaring pictures come out blurry because of his wiggle dance. xP

And here's Akela: (Her colors have definitely gotten brighter, I'll try to get some newer ones today. None of these pictures do her any justice.)

For the Females, at least, I think I'll go with Erica's pricing, as long as she doesn't mind.

The first two females you purchase will be $10 each, after that each female is $5. For example, if you buy 6 girls, your total would be $40.

Female Community Package:
4 Females ~ $20
6 Females ~ $25

Not sure about the males yet.

Camera finally finished charging, so I took some pictures. Kale wouldn't stand still, so unfortunately, there aren't any of him. >.<

Yay! They look so happy and ready to go. I wish you the best of luck with them, I'm x-ing my fingers for 300 eggs! hehe

Here are a couple pictures of little Kale, he's a foxy boy! I really love his caudal edges, they're super clean and as straight as you can get, he has a big dorsal that is pretty much perfect for his caudal, and a pretty balanced anal. Plus, he's just cute! I really think these will be stunning babies, and very well taken care of, of course. ;0)

Kale's been in the spawn tank for a while, and Akela's now in the breeding trap. She's already ready to go, but Kale can't seem to figure out where he's building his bubblenest. >.< Hopefully it'll go well!

Sounds like its going great so far Devon! Can't wait for more pics of when the *wittle* babies come! *Eeeee* Kale and Akela, are both gorgeous bettas, I'm sure you'll get some awesome offspring-lings. xD
