What if we're home teachers? I'm always teaching myself stuff in places like this.

One of my specialties when I was a regular teacher was helping homeschooled kids integrate into the regular system, when they decided they wanted to. I got to work with some interesting kids.

That would be an interesting job, I had a friend in high school who was homeschooled up to the 9th grade and came to school from the 10th grade. He struggled to integrate into the school environment, but he graduated with one of the highest marks in the cohort.

In our system, kids usually come in in 9th grade. I think my main job was as a 'street smarts' teacher. A lot of the homeschooled kids struggled with that side of life, and as they tried to make friends, they sometimes attracted the predatory people. High School is just a slice of the world, so we had to run a little interference where we could. But there are so many reasons why kids are homeschooled, and so many different levels of actual education being provided. Some kids had great foundations, others didn't - much like everyone else.

9th grade is probably one of the worst grades to start in, everyone is so nasty to each other. What you're saying is so true though.
